how do i allow send authorization? i cannot get the outgoing smtp to work with my snappermail.what are the settings for username and password? what is this send authorization they mention,i cannot find the setting to allow this.i think i have everything configured correctly.can anyone help? i really need this to work as verizon/airbridge is no longer reliable for outgoing mail. for username i have myname@myrealbox.com or do i leave the myrealbox.com out of it. i cant get it to work either way,the only thing i figure is its this send authorization setting that i cannot find either on snappermail or on the myrealbox homepage.they tell me to go to acct settings and select" my server requires authentication". i cannot find this please help
This are the settings I have for Myrealbox.com with Snappermail:
Under the Edit Preferences -> Server tab ->
Incoming Mail:
POP3 Server: pop3.myrealbox.com
Username: Fill in your info
Password: Fill in your info
Outgoing Mail:
SMTP Server: smtp.myrealbox.com
Username: Fill in your info
Password: Fill in your info
Under More Tab ->
POP3 Settings:
Use Port: 110
Do Not Check: APOP
SMTP Settings:
Use Port: 25
Do Not Check: POP before send
All other information is optional but fill them out just in case (like Name and email address. I have not had a problem with Myrealbox with Snappermail since I have used it. Let me know if that helps and Good luck.
i cannot get this to work for me.under username do i include the@myrealbox.com suffix or is it just my username? are there any settings on the pc at myrealbox such as "send authentication" that need to be set?
You need just your username you log into myrealbox.com WITHOUT "myrealbox.com". For example if your email address is 123@myrealbox.com. Your username should be 123. Then input your password and all the info I gave you above.
i am having no luck,i get an error message stating "smtp responded not ok,failed to authorize to smtp server server replied 451 to many connections, please try later" sometimes the message just says failed to authorize. sounds like you are not aware of any setting on the pc for "send authentication" the my realbox.com faqs mention it and so does another thread on this topic on this board but i cannot find a setting for it anywhere. i have everything configured exactly as you said and no luck
smtp responded not ok,failed to authorize to smtp server server replied 451 to many connections, please try later"
This is a problem with MyRealBox.com not your settings, as you know MyRealBox.com is a test server for Novell NetMail and is free to use but they limit the amount of connections to the SMTP port. Server replied 451 to many connections, I use VersaMail with the IMAP on MyRealBox and it works fine most of the time, but even with my Outlook IMAP connection during busy times I can't send mail right away, after it tries for about 5 minutes it can connect.
Your setting should be correct if you get the to many connections message, you may just have to try and send it a couple of times before it will go through.
The "too many connections" problem on MyRealBox.com became very annoying to me. I paid the one time $14.95 fee for a member account on the FastMail.fm site. It has worked flawlessly ever since I signed up.
Luckily, I have never had any connection problems with Snappermail and myrealbox.com. Granted it does have server connection issues when POPing from my email client.
i have been trying last nite and all day today,i have not managed to send one email.i gotta look for something else.at least with airbridge it eventually gets there!

Last time I sent a message via the AirBridge server, it took over SIX HOURS to get to its destination.
If you only need SMTP (i.e. you're getting POP3 from your ISP), you can do what I did and pay the one-time-only fee of $14.95 at the FastMail.fm site for a member account. No charge after that. I've not had a single problem with it since signing up, and it's very fast delivery. (No, I don't work for FastMail. )
thanx for the tip,i will check it out.i may just ask my friend on earthlink to give me an email address(they give you .wont cost him anything extra and may solve my problems.verizon should really offer a solution, what is the point of offering the programs like eudora on their smartphones then making you pay for another isp to actually be able to use it. i have aol as my regular isp and of course that wont work with snappermail, and aol palm email cant do attatchments so that is not sufficent either.verizon needs to provide all smartphone owners a free pop/smtp like airbbrdige that is reliable!

The problem with "borrowing" an Email address from your friend with Earthlink is that they may not allow relaying. So, you may not be able to use the Earthlink service for SMTP (sending Email), only receiving. It's worth a try, though. If it doesn't work (i.e. you get a "relaying not allowed" error when you try to send), then you should look into the FastMail solution.
I've been using a Softhome.net free account for 6 months and it's been working fine. Delivery is instantanious and relay isn't a problem with SMTP authorization. I've also used QK SMTP Server which works really well if you have broadband and your ISP doesn't block port 25 in or out. I have an Earthlink account and they do not allow SMTP relay.
i am not sure you guys are correct about earthlink.i had my buddy set me up with an earthlink email addy because verizon tech support for mobile office specifically told me earthlink would work,i then searched this board for similiar threads and others had recomended earthlink for this issue as well, the snappermail/earthlink settings are even posted. i followed the instructions i found here and it works as they said

Well, I did say they "may not" allow relaying. Since it works for you, great!! Have fun!!
Originally posted by camplivingston yeah, problem solved for now(until my friend decides to drop earthlink) i still think verizon is dropping the ball by not offering a solution
Yes, I would have to agree ... they're dropping the ball.

since i dont know how to post the link, i can tell you the thread is called "snappermail&airbridge" and the specific post that gives the settings is by "stevenyc " if you do a search you will find it,the thread was started by "mamas wired" it works like a charm!
