Free to registered users..

I got an email from Blue nomad earlier this week with a URL and password to get the free upgrade because I'm a registered user (NO, I will not list it here).

If your registered, but didn't get the email notification - you might want to contact Blue Nomad.

I got an e.mail from them and have completed the upgrade. Not much to write home about for us 7135 users other than some new graphics/icons.

I downloaded the new version, and it doesn't seem much different to me other than the graphics. Maybe it's a little faster, but I've not done a comparison between the old and new version.

Two icons on my card

Ever since I upgraded my SD card shows two different backupbuddy icons - the old and the new. What's the best way to get rid of the old copy?

Delete the old version, then install the new one.

You didn't read the install instructions did you? They explicitly say that you are supposed to delete the old version from main memory and the card before installing the new version.

Use FileZ to delete the smaller of the two BBVFS PRC (named "Backup" I believe) files. The new version is significantly larger.

MobileLink Error

When trying to use BackupBuddyVFS, it gets an error trying to back up MobileLink. I told it to continue anyway. Should I be worried?

Changes to BB Ver 2.1

These are the changes included in BB Ver 2.1 as posted on the BlueNomad site.

New for version 2.1: OS 5 Support and Encryption ARMlet added

New for version 2.1: Tungsten T3 collapsible graffiti support in both Portrait and Landscape modes

New for version 2.1: Updated Graphics and User Interface

Not much for current users but did add OS5 and a couple of other items.

Well, it has been a couple of years since they upgraded BB. They did a pretty good job the first time around so there really is not a whole lot more they can add to the backup functionallity. (I bet that gets some suggestions.)

Regards;

Do you have a card reader? If so, put your SD card in that and delete the Mobile Link files. (You could also do the delete using the Palm program called "FileZ" or the built-in File Manager program, I suppose). Then try the backup again.

I never was good at ready directions but I did glance at the readme file that came with the download and didn't see the instructions to delete the old version first.

I used Filez to delete the old one though,

Crash on scheduled backup...

Hey, has anyone had trouble with the upgraded version of BackupBuddyVFS?

For me it works fine on demand, but scheduled backups cause a crash - every time.

Two mornings in a row, I woke up to Teal-Lock asking me for my password. I have since done multiple tests, watching the countdown and everything, then kee-rash as soon as it tries to run.

(All instructions followed on installation, BTW )

Today I deleted the backup and app, and re-installed the older version - works perfectly on demand and on schedule.

Is anyone having a similar problem? I emailed Blue Nomad support about it. I really don't mind sticking with the old version - other than prettier graphics, there didn't seem much new - but I would like to know the cause.

Tanx!

Thanks for the warning. I'll stick with the older version for a while longer.

Nope. Still successfully auto backing up at 3:00 am each morning using my selected backup list of 252 files out of about 265.

Yes, I've had trouble. F&%$ed my whole phone and had my first ever loss of all data after soft reset. I'm pissed, going back to old version after I rebuilt my phone ... again.

A question for you folks who crashed with the new version BackupBuddy VFS:
Do you have the old or new rom for the 7135? I'm guessing that maybe the problem is linked to the older rom? I have 44/29 installed on my phone and so far no problem.

Be worthwhile to find out what the culprit is here...

I was having the same issue with the new version and emailed them. There was an issue if you use encryption and they have since fixed it. Worked fine for me last night.

The link they sent me for the fix was the same as the updated one received a few days ago. Delete the copy on your phone and re-download/sync again.

Just so you know, it still shows up as 2.1 when I checked the about.
