Using VPN client to browse files?

I have installed the Mergic VPN client (http://www.mergic.com) and it works very well for the PPTP protocol. I have been able to get at our Exchange Server and retrieve mail successfully.

My question is this: Is there a utility that can be used in conjunction with this VPN client that would allow me to, in essence, map a drive on our internal network?

Maybe I'm dreaming, but is it possible to browse a shared network drive through the VPN and download files to my SD card?

Has anyone done this?

On a related note, has anyone used PalmVNC? Any thoughts on that program?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You definitely won't be able to map a drive for a number of reasons: you are not part of the domain, there is no application on your phone that will read CIFS, etc.

I have used PalmVNC with my movianVPN. It is not the fastest, but if there is an emergency, I can connect to the server for troubleshooting. The scaling and zoom feature is pretty nice.

EGM,

Did you have to stray from the Mergic standard instructions? I tried it and of course can't connect.

Thanks!

I had to use an IP address for the VPN connection. That was the only catch.
