Kyocera Hands-free car kit

I recently purchased this product, which works great! However, the one flaw in this product is that the microphone is connected to the speaker module. In other words, the speaker module is optimally positioned down near my center console (near my cigarette lighter socket). However, this is NOT the optimal placement of the microphone for reliably voice pick-up. Therefore, I am looking for a 3/32" compatible cord (~ 4 feet) which I could use to position the microphone away from the speaker module. This should also minimize feedback that sometimes occurs when the microphone picks up what is coming of the speaker. I already contact Kyocer Wireless directly, and they recommend that I come here, because they do not sell such an accessory/enhancement for their own hand-free car kit?????

People here have found them at Radio Shack. I tried three and did not find them, so I had someone solder a connecter on the correct cord so I could reroute it.

Radio Shack makes a 3/32 mono extension (6' I believe) cord that will work with the Mic. I'll see if I can locate the part number. If I recall it is in a very odd place in the store like a cell phone mic extension or some such nonesense. I had a mic with a long cord from an old Nokia car kit that works for me. Until then I was driving with my head below the dash to talk into the mic, very annoying.

Hands Free car Kit

With the 6-Foot Headset Extension Cable from Radio Shack where do people put the mic and how do they keep it secure? I am wondering if anyone found a rigid type of mic extender that would fit into the mic slot on the handsfree kit.

Thanks

Marv

I just have a lapel clip at the end of the extension where the mic plugs on mine, and I hook it on my collar while driving.

I have mine fished under the steering wheel and up the side of the door frame... it sits under my visor. Works great!

BTW, I found it at Radio Shack in the standard phone cables section. Wasn't where I thought it would be.

Orginally I started playing around with clips from pens. Some pic pens for example have a pocket clip you can take off the pen and bend so it grips the mic better. Eventually I used the clip from the mic off an old hands unit I had.

What are you all using to hold the phone in hands-free mode? I am using a cheap K-Mart universal holder which squeezes the phone between two pieces of foam. It works but is not ideal or very secure.

Why would anyone spent the kind money for a 7135 and not spent a few dollars for a good holder. The Proclip is the only way to go. I use my proclip every day.

Pro Clip

Thanks for your OPINION, but everyone might not be as versed in after market equipment and may not know about the "Pro Clip". Now... would you like to tell me about it including costs and where to find it.

People ask questions to be educated not be made like they are stupid!

I used a cheap universal holder the entire time I had the 7135. It worked perfectly. Of course it depends on the application, but sometimes the simple things really do work!

I just looked at the website (which, incidentally, requireds unlimited cookies).

The proclip comes in two parts. You need a part that will fit your car - this is approximately $30 - they seem to support a wide range of makes and models.

You also need to purchase a clip that is specific to your phone. They have a two versions that will fit the 7135. The phone piece will cost you $30 or $35 depending on the flavor that you choose.

So - HarleyX - where did you get your inexpensive phone holder??

Thanks!

I use the universal cup holder from Arkon. It is near the bottom of this link. Actually the only downside is losing a cup holder and the first one on the link looks interesting. I have three sockets, but only two cup holders

When I moved to the i700, it would not fit. I kept the mount, removed the "wings" and mounted the plastic holder from the "man purse" case to the cup holder pedestal.
