Why can't a find an app like this?

I can't believe I can't find an address book app that will do this. All I want it to be able to control what name is displayed for each entry, just like in outlook. For my main listing, I really don't care to see the actual phone number etc, I want a list of names / businesses I can actually read. I've looked at several address book apps and have yet to find one. I'd like a display something this...
(obviously this is unsorted)

Address vALL
-------------------------------------
Jetson, George H
Walmart B
Hampton, Michael M
Jacobgingleheimer...,John H
...

( looks like the extra spaces are getting stripped out. The H/B/M/H should be lined up on the right side)

Is that too much to ask for? I would want to be able to select which name is displayed (full or business) because sometimes I care about the business name and sometimes I care about the contact person and the business name is there only as a referance for the address.

Have any of you seen a program that will do this?

Thanks

TealPhone (TealPoint Software) probably comes closest. When a business is included in a listing by last name, the business name is sorted into the list within left and right double angle quotes. Middle initials aren't going to line up as you wanted because that's not a separate field in the address book database.

Actaully, those are not middle initials, but rather an indicator of the default number (H=Home, B=Business, etc). It could have a drop down list that would show all the numbers in a popup box if needed though.

i have to say, youve got a good point...
we really dont need to see the number of the people that we're dialing from our own addressbook, and it would be nice to see more of the name/business info...

then again, many of us are using takephone (which doesnt show numbers before it dials if youve only got one number for the selected contact anyway, right?)...

so, take a look at takephone?

In "Address Plus" you can shut off displaying phone numbers and just list the names.

take a look at supernames

Take a look at supernames (palmgear.com).

You can display, FL,LF, or company.

You can also link contacts in Supernames, which is what sold me. That is a very powerful feature. I can link a customer to his boss, his favorite golf course, and his co-workers. You can jump back and forth through the links.
