Ok, I've got one for you guys. When I select Ring Only, my phone rings with the proper category sound (after the one or two beats of the default sound while doing the name lookup). But when I choose vibrate then ring, it only rings with the default sound, never the category one. I've asked Kyocera about this, and their response was that it might be a 3rd party app. So I did the hard reset, erased the data, then added just one address entry (my house). The behavior was the same.
So, my question is, has anyone seen this other than me? I'm running the stock Verizon code (36/23).
I noticed the same thing. Actually, until your post it had been one of those things I meant to invesigate but forgot to do. I, too, went to some trouble to make categories for my wife, kids, work etc. only to find that I get the default ring; I hadn't yet attributed it to Vib-then-ring mode.
Moderately annoying.
Oh well...so happy with it otherwise that there's not much to say.

yes, I have noticed the same thing. I am running the latest software version. I could have sworn that it worked before the update. I understand the delay when it is set to ring only (caller id lookup), but vibrate and then ring the default ringer, sounds like a bug to me.
I am going to post it to the kyocera support site and will let you know. I am also waiting on a replacement phone. If the firmware is the older set I will test and let you know.
Feel free to add one more to the list. I noticed this right off. I had hoped that setting it to vibrate-ring would make the problem of the default ringer sounding first while the lookup was taking place, but when set to vibrate-ring, when the ring happened, it was always the default ringer. I'd love for this to work.
Brand new to the forum, but this is one of the things that bugged me, too. Actually, I want "vibrate" to be a category sound, so that I can set it to vibe for everyone except chosen people. Am I missing something that makes this possible?

Welcome aboard! No, you're not missing anything... setting a category to vibrate is not an available option.

Here's your fix. Hotsync or beam this ringer and use as your default and set whatever you want in your catagories. I edited the Standard ringer from ROM and added a 2 sec delay to the front. The result is 2 secs of silence on the 1st ring then your catagory ring plays. If you get a call from a number not in your catagories, you will still get the standard ring, just with 2 secs of silence at the head. Works for me, let me know if it does for you. I love this stuff
