MP3Pro and others

I was wondering what is the best MP3 file format.

I was going to pay for Music Match. When you buy it they have a new format called MP3Pro. Can this file format be played on the MP3 player that is installed on the 7135?

How about other formats? What is the best size/rate to rip MP3 files at?

Thanks in advance,

The 7135 cannot play MP3Pro (or WMA, or AAC, etc) only straight up MP3 (for now at least). As for best ripping parameters, if you're going to play them on your 7135, they need to have a bitrate of 128kb/s or lower, else playback will begin to stutter. If you are ripping for archival purposes and ditching your CDs, you might want to consider ripping at 192kb/s and downsampling the MP3s before you put them on your phone...though that adds quite a bit of extra hassle.

How does one downsample the MP3s before you put them on your phone?

Note this questions is coming from a novice. I am converting CDs to MP3 via the Acoustica MP3 CD converter.

Thanks

I use a program called Goldwave that enables you to do a batch conversion of several MP3s and load the newly converted mp3s into the directry of your choice. I can't remember were I downloaded it from (probably CNet) but it was free.

Here is a link for help with MP3s -
http://mp3.about.com/cs/mp3basics/

I use MusicMatch, and have purchased the premiere version.

You can easily convert files from one format to another using this software.

Go to Find, Convert and you will have 2 'boxes'.
Right box you navigate to the folder you have your music collection in and select indivdual songs. Right box you navigate to the folder you want the converted songs dropped into.

You can select what format you want to use (MP3) and the bitrate (128 for the 7135, 160 or 192 for players or computer or CD burning for playback elsewhere) You can also choose Audio to make straight music CDs for playback in home CD players or cars.

To 'rip' music, you go to Options, Settings and click on the Recorder Tab. You can set the file type, bitrate and destination drive - then insert your Audio CD into the computer and click the red Record button - it will take your songs and put them into the directory you indicated in Settings.

Music Match also has a great website with FAQ pages to help novice learners.
