mp3's --- no sound when playing

Has anyone else had the problem of no sound when playing MP3's? I don't get sound from either the earpiece or speaker phone (the phone works fine for voice calls on earpiece or speaker). The mp3 are saved to a 512MB SD Sandisk card under the Audio directory. I called Kyocera tech support and they say there is a known issue when the mp3 file name is more than 20 characters. I've done some test with short file names and still no luck.

Or maybe I've got something configured incorrectly........ now why would I do that

Have you tried using Bebopper, a third party mp3 player application written specifically for the 7135. It does away with some of the limitations of the built in player. Try that and see if you still have the same problems. Go to www.belltools.com
Also remember keep you MP3's 128 k bit rate or less.

And how about doing a soft reset on the phone using the button in the battery compartment. Then try playing them again.

MP3 sound is not supposed to come out of the phone's built-in ear piece, but it should work from the speakerphone. I assume you've tried increasing the volume? Does the speakerphone work at all, such as for an actual phone call ???

Also, there will not be any sound from the speaker if the phone is in "Silent Mode"

Redbutton, Thanks! Problem solved.

MikeRye: if I try to use a cassette adapter in the car I wouldn't get any sound?

Thanks.

Yeah! somebody found the solution! Isn't this forum great!

Yes there are references in the threads to others using cassette and wireless type (the ones that tranmit to an FM radio freq) adapters with the 7136 using coolcats adapters. Be aware the 2.5 mm plug is a four conductor plug that is wired for mic/stereo/switch. I recall at least one post from someone who fried their phone using the wrong adapter.

Yes, you can use a cassette adapter to get sound in your car. I do that a lot. As MGuzzy says, make sure you get the right adapter!!
