Has anyone else had problems making ringtones. I have followed the instuctions to a "T" and can not make new tones that work.

I have been able to use ringtones I downloaded from this forum. The ones I make however generate an error when I try to hotsync them to the phone.

I get an error in the hotsync log saying "Invalid Handheld File Deleted: 'filename'".

This is with both the version from the cd and the most recent version of MP3 Ringer Maker from Kyoceras website.

All other files I try to install work just fine.

I did a search on "make ringer" & found the following thread. On page 3 you'll find the subsequent post.

Ok, I found out what causes the problem. You MUST truncate the mp3 to be converted by the MP3Maker program. If you try to let the program do it for you, THAT is when you get the invalid file error.

SOOOOOO, for anyone else out there who is experiencing this, you MUST cut the size of the initial file down to the size you want the resulting .pdb to be.

And, of course, this step was in the FAQ. I mistakenly thought that the instructions that came with the program were worth a damn.

Sorry for the "stupid" question. There is a whole lot of garbage to sort through in over a years worth of posts. I'm not all that great with a search engine.
