That's a sure manufacture's defect. I would get a replacement immediately. In fact if you have had the phone for only a week you are still with Verizon's 14 day window that you can return the phone, and thier 30 warranty returning windows (I think). I would take it back to Verizon and get a replacement through them. They should be able to replace it on the spot or through direct fullfillment where they will FedEx a new phone to you over night (hint get it to them before 4pm and you should have your replacement by noon the next day).
BTW if you don't have insurance on your phone I would get it. 5 bucks a month is a small price to pay on a $500 phone IMHO!
