They generally have less capacity, don't fit as well. They actually cost almost as much due to the mostly hidden shipping cost. A "used" OEM battery is a better deal than a new aftermarket one.

And make sure that the OEM battery is not a -5 that is the subject of the recent recall by Kyocera.
eBay claims to have a number of new Kyocera OEM 7135 batteries for sale. Can these be trusted as being true Kyocera batteries? I'm a little suspicious, given the serious delta in price ($16 vs. $60).
I assume that if a seller advertises a Kyo OEM battery, and shows a picture of a KYO OEM battery, it is a KYO OEM battery he is selling (unless he has a lot of negative feedback for misrepresenting).

Dear xxxxx,
I bought an OEM battery for my kyo 7135. when i put it in the 1'st time phone looked fine but i could not ck voicemail on it and when i called it it did not ring. charged again and tried it next day and OK. yest on a business trip the phone went "dead", i plugged in my car charger and an alarm went off and i had my first ever total data loss after the soft reset. any complaints on these batteries before? i would like to return this, the palm is too important to have issues with... thank god for backup buddy yesterday.
Well, the batteries arrived today. After comparing them to the original, they appear to be identical but a couple of years old with some scratches. Based on that, I'm assuming that they are used OEM; they're definitely not new.
Like everyone else, I wish the battery in my 7135 would last longer...
I see there are some battery sellers that claim to have 1200mAh batteries available (as opposed to the original 900mAh one). A friend of mine (who owned a cell phone shop years ago) said that many times the aftermarket battery makers simply lie about their mAh rating and in most cases you are lucky if they are even as powerful as the originals. He said that if the battery is bigger or weighs more than the original then it is likely more powerful, but in the case of the 7135 since it is the same size and weight, the manufacturers are probably just exaggerating the rating.
Sounds logical to me, but what do I know. Anyone know for sure, or ever done a side by side comparison? Thanks for any info.
I wouldn't even consider anything other than OEM parts for this phone... Its very sensitive to power requirements. There have been a few threads on this subject and I think that was the concensus. Also be aware that there was a battery recall by Kyocera (anything with a part number ending in -05) and there are a lot of those still floating around.

Totally agree.
I've been using aftermarket, third-party, OEM..whatever the cheapest batteries and chargers for all my electronics for about 10 years now. I've never had anything happen to my electronics. Ever. 10 years. Palms, cell phones, MP3 players, you name it.
I will admit that some of the aftermarket batteries don't stack up in terms of longevity but for the price I can live with that. I just got an aftermarket batterr, car charger and travel charger from eBay delivered to my door in Canada for $25(Cdn). A battery alone is $109 from my provider and $65 from the Kyo site before shipping.
These claims of things blowing up are almost urban legend. For every 50 cases you hear of, maybe one is actually true.
I've had my Kyo 7135 for about 2 years now and have definitely noticed battery drain an issue, especially recently. Anwyay I went out and bought a 1200 mAh battery from CellularAccessory.Com and so far have not had any issues. It maybe because its new, but I'm definitely getting a lot more mileage out of this one than the one that originally came with the phone.
Like everybody else I would like a bigger battery for my 7135. But I cannot tell what size my current battery is. I have a model TXBAT 10034. Also on the battery are these numbers. CV90-K 1960-01 Can anybody tell me what size battery this is? Thanks.
