B-D,
During your final, have the wife bring your text books to work and then she can SMS you the answers.

lol... you're so naughty. We should be encouraging people to use their 7135's for good, and not for evil! (but... if you're going to try Markito's idea, make sure you don't do something to make her mad at you right before the test! :p )

It's a shame that Kyocera didn't create their own email app for the 7135 and integrate it with their Messages app so you can go to just one app to view or send your voice, text and email messages. That would have been more efficient.
I usually use Eudora mail for messaging when sending group messages. The Message app sends them as unique messages w/costs associated. Also, my experience is that Eudora mail is more reliable than the Message app. Not sure why but suspect it relates to Message having to determine which protocol to use (sms or smtp). Anyone know?
Thanks for all your ideas and keep um coming . . . I've activated text messaging online and called Verizon to see if unlimited is still avail. until June 30th at least as of today it was still unlimited text messaging for $2.99 a mo.
The CS rep at Verizon new nothing about this phone (what a shock) she had to download the user manual to show me how to use text messaging. I could have looked that up myself but the manual is sparse on help in these areas. Although I must say the CS rep went out of her way to help me, she contacted a tech for answers and never sounded like I was a bother to her having to show me how to use the text messaging service (she was learning how to use it at that same time).
This text messaging feature is the greatest as the respondents have showed me the light in some of the above posts!
For others that may be looking to start using this feature here are some tips that I learned and may help you to get going on how to send an email (no min used) from the 7135 to someones computer email address without using email thru the web and using your minutes up.
1. 1st sign up at Verizonwireless.com and assign yourself an email address Examp: JoeSmith@vtext.com
2.I called Verizon to make sure I was on the $2.99 plan (of course they showed no record of me signing up online but that might take some time).
3. From phone screen click messages, click new (bottom right) and write your recipients email address in recipient area or moblie phone # if you are sending a text message to their text message enabled phone.
4. Jot out a message or click on insert for some standard built in messages (insert can also be used for quick responses) and hit send.
So as others have brought to my attention . . this is the coolest feature for one to make best use of their time. Now I can be in a meeting or be in my car or best yet HAPPY HOUR and converse without burning through my voice minutes like when my wife calls me to "bring home milk" and then goes into a rant on how her day went . . . now I can respond back with a simply "OK" and even insert from the pat responses an "I love you" and then get back to my DRINK! Isn't technology great? Hic!
I get the stock quote from vtext.com, CNN breaking news directly from cnn.com, severe weather alerts from weather.com (the weather channel) and traffic alerts from some Microsoft site that I have forgotten how I found. Might have been a link from expedia.

I signed up for CNN breaking news and they sent me a TM acknowledging receipt of my request. In parenthises it says confirmation needed. I tried to reply using a TM, but it failed. I have not received any news TM's either. How does one confirm?
Weather updates are working great!!! Thanks for the info!

I apologize. I actually have the breaking news go to an email address which I have forwarded to my text message address in my mail server (the messages typically fit in a TM, but occasionally I miss the last few words, so I wanted to have an email box I could check to get the rest of the headline). I believe when I acknowledged, I probably did it from email rather then from TM.

A note of caution about registering online w/Verizon for text messaging. I did that, using a short common name, and was surprised when it was not already taken. Almost immediately I began receiving text messages from unknown sources, appearing to be wrong numbers. Most were friendly, altho cryptic, but one was hostile. Don't know who they thought I was. I also received one apparent spam - in Spanish. Prior to signing up online, I was happily able to send and receive messages from my phone w/no trouble. The only advantage I see of online registration is that it gives you an address that people could use to send you text messages via e-mail.
People can already send you SMS messages with any desktop email app. They just send it to "xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com" where the "x's" are your mobile number with area code. No need to signup at vtext.com or anything.
My .02 cents

I use SMS to page me of important emails while on the road. If I don't get a page I don't bother syncing. Just setup a rule in Outlook to forward the message from certain people or with those emails that are sent with an urgent tag and it will forward as much of the message to your phone within the max characters.

I have been using this successfully for almost a year, but last week my text messages from CNN quit working. I get a text message of one, two, or three letters (my last simply said usb). I am getting the message fine in my e-mail. I have deleted the outlook express forwarding rule and recreated a new one, but the messages are still garbled.
Any suggestions?

I do some internet advertising for a service type business. When a new lead comes in, I am automaticially notified via SMS. I can respond to a potential customer right away... at night.... on weekends etc.
I also use "alerts" for Hockey scores and breaking news.
There was an article in the New York Times about a free service called teleflip... You can send SMS to ANY phone on any service by simply sending an email to xxxXXXxxxx@teleflip.com where the xxx's represent the recepient's phone number.
I tested it by sending a message to myself and it worked surprisingly quickly (took about 2 mins to hit my phone).
