Changing SMS reminder beep? (steve?!)

STEVE, (or anybody else)

Let's see what you can do. I replaced the SMS beep with the aol "you've got mail!" sound. it's great. the guy comes on whenever i get a text or voice mail, but i get a regular beep as a reminder.

my challege to you: how do you replace the reminder beep?

it shouldn't take you that long, right?

thanks in advance,

Actually I had figured this out but I haven't tested it myself yet.

Follow the same steps found in the "Changing the SMS messages Beep":

http://www.smartphonesource.com/vbul...&threadid=6791

HOWEVER, you will need use KWC_SMSREMINDER.prc as the filename for the mp3.

Again, I have not tested this yet, but theoretically it should be possible.

Good luck & Please let us know your results.

i tried it, and unfortunately, it doesn't work.

any ideas? should it be under "tone"?

don't give up yet?

also, i was wondering if you could change the "missed call" beep too?

I would think so, since that's what the original file is.

I WAS ABLE TO DO THE SMS MESSAGE BEEP WITH THE GOTMAIL FILE YOU POSTED WITH NO PROBLEM. BUT I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG WHEN I TRY TO RENAME THAT FILE FOR THE REMINDER BEEP. CANT GET IT TO WORK.

I'll do you one better Eightball. Here is the AOL "You've Got Mail!" and the ICQ "Incoming Mail!" sounds for the SMS and reminder files along with the MP3's.
Enjoy!

Sound List

Is there a list of which files control the which specific sounds ??

I'd like to change the "Tweedle Dee" and "Tweedle Dum" sounds that the phone makes when you start and stop the Hot Synch.

I thought some Star Trek computer sounds might be more appropriate such as "Initiating File Transfer" and Transfer Complete"

I have the MP3's and can convert them. I just don't know which files to replace.

Thank You

I could be mistaken, but I don't think you can use MP3's for those sounds. They're just beeps. Maybe the hack called "TechSounds" (search for it on PalmGear.com) can help you out.

do i need to change pdb to prc

way back when, i modified my sms beep, but inadvertantly named the file: kwc_sms.pdb. the instructions clearly say it should be .prc not .pdb. but, it works. should i use the same file, change it's name to .prc and re-install it? i.e. what difficulties am i likely to run into with this error?

thanks,
-db

You should be fine -- its the name that you give to MP3Maker that makes the difference -- It puts that name into the header section of the file and your good to go. I suppose you could rename it anything you want after mp3maker gets done with it.
