Ok, now comes the point of...HOW to mount/hold the phone in the car. I would love to use the speaker phone in the car and be able to see the phone without just chucking it in the cup holder.

<cheap plug... Monday 12.30.02 12 midnight Seth Yacavone Band @ Tobacco Road in NYC... http://www.tobaccord.com/ - I'm mixing, so if you stop by come say hello at the mixing console, and bring your 7135 so I can fondle it, heheheh >
I sent an email to Kyocera today asking the same thing and they indicated that there was no car mount kit other than the one on their web site which is portable. I hate wires hanging from the dash. I want all accessories in the vehicle hard wire and hidden.
most retail stores have what's called a profit. It is generically sized and is made for your particular make and model vehicle. It's a sqeeze mount with button for a release, they work very well....and from pictures and some breif training I think the size of the cradle itself will be perfect for the 7135...so I'll have to wait and see
IF you want to affix the little button to the back of your 7135. I don't think I will be doing that to mine.

I'm using a Pro Fit universal mount. If you turn it upside down, it has a slot for a belt clip, so I just leave a holster clipped to it all the time. Can't see the screen, or even the little LCD, so it isn't a perfect solution, but it at least keeps the phone handy (and out of the cupholder!)
After looking at their website, I'm not using a universal mount, I'm using what they call the Express Mount attached to a VSM (Vehicle Specific Mount) in my Jetta. At any rate, if you install it one way, it has a slot to hold a button type mount, but if you instll it the other way, it has a slot that holds a belt clip, and I just leave a holster clipped in there all the time (well, I will after today, since I just got my extra holster today)

Has any one seen on the web a kit that actually utilizes an external speaker, microphone, and is hardwired into the car verses a spiral cord pluging into the cigar lighter?
'PDA style phones are typically too wide to fit. '
Jeff
That is based on the 3" opening. The 7135 is 2.43" wide, so it should fit. I think I have seen this, or a very similar unit at Target. You might want to check out your local Target/Walmart/Kmart type store to see if they carry it locally and if it will work for you before buying online.
I purchased one of these when I saw that they had dropped the price to <$8. It does fit the 7135, but I went for a drive when it was 20 degrees out, and the plastic clips that hold it to the visor apparently get brittle in the cold because one of them snapped when I tried to adjust the position of the phone.
I am now looking at the PDA holders here http://www.arkon.com/pdamount.html They are a good bit more expensive, but I don't want to have my phone go crashing to the floor of the car....
I just wish the Kyo hands-free car kit actually included a place to put the phone.
If you're looking for a easy to install, professional looking and secure car mount take a look at the link below. I purchased one for my Treo 300 to put in my Yukon. The Yukon mount fit perfect and took about 30 seconds to install. It is 100% securely mounted to my dash. Proclip makes cradles for all types of phones and PDA's that then attach to the vehicle mount. Once again a fast (2 minute) installation. Held the Treo (I've got a 7135 now) perfectly. Only problem today is they don't have a 7135 cradle yet. I spoke to a representative who said they'll have one in 4-6 weeks. From actual experience, I'd say it's worth the wait.
but since the phone is not flat, wouldn't the screen be tilted downward? I would like the screen be flat so I can see the screen. I sure hope they could figure out the best way to mount the phone.

Some of the holders on the site, especially the PDA ones have the ability to angle the unit.
