Upgrading from the 6035

A question for anyone that has upgraded from the 6035...

Did you have to delete all the 6035 specific files from your backup directory or only the "saved_preferences" like the user manual tells you to do? I'm wondering if I can chance a regular synch without having to install all my apps one at a time...

its best to do a fresh install at all times.

also, doing the manuall install will let you know if any apps may have a problem in the 7135s' environment. it takes a little longer, but you will have a clean install of apps with no fear of legacy programs sneaking their way onto the 7135...

I may chance it anyway... and if I have any trouble I can always hard reset and start all over. It all worked fine when I went to the 6035 (granted, I don't have any unusual programs, as well)

Also, can I use my regular Palm 4.1 desktop software or MUST I use the Kyocera software that came with the 7135?

Thanks for all the help!

Mark

Well I took the plunge and chanced it...
Everything came over perfectly, even the old call history data was transferred over from my 6035! Launcher III, however, needed to be set up again from scratch.

I'll probably find a few other things I'll have to do maintenance on as well.

I'm a happy camper!

Do you need to re-enter any registration numbers for apps? Or is that just if you reinstall apps?

I had to reinstall registration numbers, etc. Everything else seemed to come over fine.

Only problem I'm noticing is that PQA's that worked fine on 6035 are crashing the phone when I try to enter grafitit data...

If anyone knows a fix, I'm interested!

Actually problem was caused by "Jot" program. Maybe an old version or maybe jot just doesn't work with the 7135. Once I removed Jot all is fine with the world!

So I'm stickin' to my "dirty" install method!

THe CD has the latest Palm Desktop. Not installing it may cause you to not be able to use the 7135 as a modem, and might even keep the USB cable from working.
