Why aren't you an early adopter, why are you waiting for 7135?
I'll carry this from another thread to get thing started:

Well, I just took it one click before "finalize your order" for the 4th time, easy all 4 times. I put in an Akron, OH service zip code, and had my billing and shipping address in NJ where I live. I will not attempt to answer for anyone else here, as we are all capable of answewring for ourselves. The reason I did not "finalize" my order(s) is that it cost too much money to purchase the 7135 without a service plan. So, I'm waiting for an official Verizon launch date, plus I just made 4 guesses for the FREE 7135, so I'm going to wait for that to pass before I make any silly spending decisions.
By waiting one o f two things will happen. 1. I'll win the free 7135 or 2. I'll wait for an official verizon launch and take advantge of my savings there. I figure a 2yr contract with phone 2 V will be around $499 or so.

In my case, I was all set for buying a Telstra or Altell version of the 7135 at any price; but, I've just dropped $2,500 cash on parts to blue-print my turbo motor after I crushed the #4 piston at 20 psi of boost. And I still owe them $1,500 for labor to do the motor and some work on the tranny, and I spent another $1,100 on Xmas gifts.
So, I should be able to recover from this mid January, buy the 7135 and put the phone on my Verizon account, and pay for the phone on the bill due 2/12/03. Assuming it is out by then...
Haven't jumped because of the price, really-- although I could use the check I just got from dear old mom and grab the phone at this point.
I dunno, I'd rather give Sprint a month or two to get on the stick than pay an extra $150 for the phone and have to deal with the hassel of changing numbers...
I figure I can wait a month and save $100 to buy the phone and active the account through Verizon (my current service) and with that money saved I can buy the optional keyboard!
Also I am trying to figure out if it might make sense to wait and go with Sprint for the $10 unlimited data which is sounding pretty good to me.

I have no idea what that means.... but it sounds bad!

I thought I'd actually fork over any amount to get this phone once it was released, even offering to help unload the truck at several local Verizon dealers. But then, once it WAS available, it seemed to re-inforce that the phone would ACTUALLY be coming soon via Verizon. (Just gullible, I guess.) I can't order the Altell phone from my area, and the only other area where I have someone that would "front" for me is in El Paso. With their taxes, plus get-it-to-me-right-now shipping, I'm looking at over $700 smackers!
I'll wait and use the extra cash to buy lots of new color apps and games to play with -- since I know once I get it, people will be avoiding me once again when they hear, "let me show you something cool!". I was marked with the "Sign of the Geek" when I got my 6035. (A designation I wear proudly -- and appropriately cataloged and recorded in my Memo application.)
I'm going to wait to see what Verizon offers it for unsubsidized (Unfortunately, bought my 6035 only 6 months ago), or if I can maybe somehow finagle a subsidized 7135 with new contract.
Depends also on my employment status - It's looking like I might be upgraded to receive health benefits by Jan. 1, which saves me $360/month (The amount I'd be paying if my employer doesn't give me benefits... Being an eternal intern sucks, but it's better than nothing the way the current job market is.)

Actually, he's quite well known among die-hard Subie owners.
Nownownow<----owner of a WRX for a year ... after a wait of a few months, soon to take delivery of a Mini Cooper S (for my wife) after a wait of 8 months, and some day even a 7135 after a wait of ... tick, tick, tick.

Let me get this straight,
You red lined the turbo, so now you need to drop some greenbacks to get the parts to blue-print the motor, and now you wont be out of the red and back in the black until January? This is worse that a Skittles ad.

Exactly when it happens is kind of a gray area, but when it does, he'll be in the pink. :p

ROFLMAO
I have a Subaru Impreza 2.5RS that was built up to handle 15lbs of boost on an add-on turbo. Made approx 350-375hp... 20lbs of boost blew it up... Will be over 400hp and very reliable when motor is done.
1. It is not officially offered by Verizon (Not in the mood to hack it myself)
2. Need to let me wallet recover from Christmas hemoraging of cash.
3. Want to hear from a few early adopters to find out what the "gotchas" are. I have no problem trying out bleeding edge hardware, but occasionally it is nice to have someone else riding the blade.
Still, if Verizon were to announce the 7135's availability tomorrow, I'd have a hard time really waiting past February to plunk down my $$$ and step up to the bleeding edge once again.
My 2 cents:
My reasons are a little bit "smartbob" and a little bit "entropy42". Actually, they're mostly "entropy42". Not feeling too rich these days, so am waiting to see if Verizon will cut me a deal on the price. Plus, waiting allows me to keep my options open in case I get fed up with Verizon's price plans and decide to convert to Sprint. (Of course, this would only happen if I hear something on this board that leads me to believe that Sprint will have the 7135 soon! But I would miss Verizon's coverage... Ah, the same old dilemma... )
$499 and a and release from my Verizon 2-year contract would sway me to make the leap (not too happy getting hi-jacked into never end two year contracts everytime a do something with them, but alas, such is cellphone life
Plus, since I know that the carriers (whoever they are) will have miserable support, I am waiting until enough people here know the ins and outs of the phone. I'm still trying to master the 6035:crazysant

Hey Jim, does your dear old Mom want to adopt? I'm available.
