Never under-estimate the power of 'not invented here,' I suppose. Perhaps Kyo feels that many 6035 customers will upgrade, or that the 7135 is more Kyocera phone than Palm PDA.

I wouldn't call it "not invented here" syndrome.
I'd call it, "Be the only supplier so we can gouge" syndrome. At least Kyo keeps their data cables compatible over their entire line of phones. (Was apparently different back in the old Qualcomm days)
