Temporarily buy a Palm 505...anxious!

Would it be terribly wrong to relieve my anxiety of a release date for the 7135 by buying a Palm 505/515 color PDA just so I get the hang of what a PDA is like since I havent owned one? Also, should I be able to run every palm app on the 7135 that I can on the Palm 505? I've fiddled with PDAs like my sisters'...but would buying one at say best buy and returning it before the 14-day return period expires be a bad idea? :-<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

ari1979,

Yes, everything that will run on your palm 515 should run fine on your 7135.

As for the ethical question of "borrowing" a 505/515 from best buy for a few weeks with full intention of returning it, I'd say nah.

If you are really desperate to try a device, download the palm emulator from Palm's website and run it on your PC. You can try all the built-in functions and load programs and do most everything you can do with a device right from the comfort of your PC (which you already own, right?). I ran this emulator a year or so ago when I had to make a presentation to a large group on how a Palm can make you more productive.

:biglaughc GadetPro you crack me up. I'm already a little nervous with the upgrade process to the 7135. In fact, I will probably blow away my Palm folder and un-install the pocket mirror and hotsync software before I install the software that comes with the 7135. Man am I long winded today. Anyway, for 14 days of color I wouldn't chance it.

I'll be the voice of dissension. Go for it, download everything in site from Palmgear.com. Take it back, write down on the slip, "the color is too dim for my tastes, I need brighter color plus I read that palm is discontinuing the universal connector so that doesn't bode well for availability of accessories in the future."

ari1979,

I firmly believe that you should not toy with a fullsize Palm while waiting for your 7135 and here's why...

The screen on the 7135 (and 6035 for that matter) is pretty small compared to a full-sized Palm. It the 7135 or 6035 is your first Palm device, the screen won't seem small to you at all.
BUT, if you get used to a Palm with a big screen, then you will feel a bit bummed about the screen size when you get a smartphone.

You never foget your first time, do you?:naughty :kiss :eek2

Just wait a little bit longer and you will soon forget all about the wait.

So yer saying that since I'm used to using a Palm IIIc screen, I'll be disappointed in the Kyocera 7135? Uh oh.

Send a message via AIM to Chemo

you'll only be disappointed w/the difference compared to the IIIc screen size, I'm told that the color is far richer on the 7135.

I'd wait.
