Doctor, I have this problem. You see, I was all set to spend my poker winnings on a new Kyocera 7135 but now I hear that they may be delayed until December, or even later. I can't take it. I want my technology now. I mean sure, Mom always told me to wait for the right girl, but no girl was ever good enough for Mom, and how can I keep waiting for that perfect girl when I have this hot little number up the street from me just begging to be picked up and taken for a spin. It's the T-Mobile Sidekick, Doc, she's a beaut. High cool quotient; high geek appeal; email and Web pages on the run; and a phone to boot. Sure, she's no palm, but she's got legs, even does AIM. She's also a much cheaper date than the Kyocera is supposed to be. Most importantly, she's here, now, ready, able, willing.
Tell me I'm crazy Doc, talk me out of this. Tell me I should wait to ask out Katie Kyocera to the prom. Or should it be Sally Samsung i500? Tammy Treo 300? (But don't talk to me about Polly PC Phone; I have my standards!)
Help me Doc! Stop me before I do something stupid!!!<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
All I know is that I met this great girl at band camp and we didn't see each other until the next summer when we were counselors at the same camp. Trust me it was worth the wait.

Well, with women, waiting always seemed to wind up with the girl I thought was "right" married before I could make a first attempt. But...
My recommendation is to consider two things:
1. How important is the cellular carrier?
2. What do you really need in the hardware?
1. How important is the cellular carrier?
If carriers do not matter (i.e. if you have good enough T-Mobile coverage in your area, and/or don't care) then it does not matter all that much. The Sidekick, the Thera, the PocketPC Phone Edition, etc. are all fine units. None will be as functional, useable, reliable, or powerful as the Kyo7135, but they'll work.
If the carrier does matter to you (and if it doesn't I am guessing you use your Kyo6035 mostly as a PDA, not cell phone) then wait for the Kyo7135. CDMA is better technology right now and the new wireless speeds will be better for the 7135 then elsewhere.
2. What do you really need in the hardware?
The hardware is the other variable. If you need power then you can't go with a SideKick - you want a 7135 or a PocketPC. If you need battery life (i.e. more than a day) then you need a SideKick or a 6035. If you need PalmOS compatibility, then you want the Kyo6035 or Kyo7135. Right now, the hardware capabilities of the various phones are so divergent, that you should be able to pinpoint what you need.
Then again, if it is all about falling in love, then none of these arguments really matter. Love takes time, commitment, and devotion, and depending on the kind of guy you are it might be a "love at first sight" impulse purchase or a "love that dare not speak its name" that grows on you over time.
Good luck and let us know if we are invited to the wedding reception.
Don't forget that you can only sync your phone to your computer if you have service for the phone. (i.e. it becomes utterly useless if you want to use it without service for whatever reason, possibly even if you switch providers).
Also it's one-way - Once it's in the phone, there's no easy way to move it back.
The Sidekick has a LOT of nasty issues, summing up to the fact that it's PDA functions aren't as hot as they are at first look. (Syncing is the big issue, the fact that PalmOS has tons of third-party software while the Sidekick only has what comes with the phone is another.)
Well. despite the fact that i will still be a first day buyer of the 7135, that day seems far away. (despite $79 fridays). To have fun in the meantime, I ordered a sidekick from T-Mobile, and will get it tomorrow. $200 Supposedly with a free two week returnability. And unmetered web access for $40/month. (they ONLY have the one $40 a month plan).

If anyone is interested, the lovely Erica Brescia from T- Mobile will be speaking/demoing the Danger Sidekick (aka HipTop) at the Los Angeles Palm User Group this coming Saturday.
She demo'd the T-Mobile PocketPC phone a couple of months back.
Surprising thing is - when a Palm or other PalmOS related rep speaks to us we tear shreds off them, bitching and moaning about problems in their products , but we are all very quiet and polite to Erica ...
I ordered my T-Mobile Sidekick yesterday afternoon, they fedexed it in this morning. This thing looks incredible, its only $200. ($40/month for all web use), I think its the perfect thing to keep us happy until the 7135 comes out. I haven't found anything stupid about it yet, im already typing on its buttons without looking at the keypad.
Yeah, but then you will have two contracts with two separate carriers. Who would want that? At least you will have the 7135 to make calls on daily when you can't get any signal on the T-Mobile.
