Interestingly enough it starts out talking about the Tungsten W & finishes by basically PROMOTING all the features of the 7135.
Thanks Steve for another article praising the 7135....... I wonder when ANYBODY in the tech world is going to ask the question of why it hasn't been released by a real (oops, I mean major carrier! I don't know what goes on in their heads... but if I was in their line of work I would wonder why I started writing about how great the 7135 back in June of last year, and I'm STILL writing about it....... but nobody can get it!

Based on posts regarding testing and retesting - looks like the marketing boys got ahead (more than a little?) of the engineers (see Dilbert comic strips for numerous examples - LOL) and they ran into unanticipated technical problems. I can't help but believe that they are going all out 24/7 to get this puppy on the street ASAP - but when a retest finds something new to fix - requiring retesting, it takes a while.
As others have pointed out, although those on the bleeding edge will put up with some less than optimal behaviors, john or jane q. public are likely to be much less tolerant (especially at these prices) and in order to eliminate/minimize bad customer experience and associated press, VZ/Kyo are trying to get it right. looks like that may be soon if the phone is actually in "friendly testing" as is currently rumored.
How funny! I was just looking at Vindigo on my 7135 and there across the bottom of my screen was an advertisement for the Kyocera 7135 touting its MP3 capabilities with a nice little photo of the phone and asking if I wanted to receive more information about it! Of course I said yes! So on my next Hotsync, Vindigo will push me more ad copy on the 7135!
jazmaan, I posted the same thing in this same exact thread about a month ago. I guess brilliant nerds think alike.
BrerLapn, Yes, it does cost $25/year and does still have ads, but it is one of my very favorite and most helpful apps, and I don't mind the ads at all.
Do you feel that way about magazines that you pay for? Or do you just read Consumer Reports because they don't contain any ads?

The ads don't bother me, but that's probably because they are ads of the 7135! lol
It mentions the 7135, however, its primarily about what features the next TREO will likely have:
Better design,SD, better screen, MP3 player, Voice Recorder .....sound Famillar? LOL they'll need more than that to top the 7135! (just putting it on sprint may help ) hopefully we're not still waiting for VZ to launch the 7135 when Handspring creates this new treo.
Just 2 things will make it better than the 7135: The thumboard and OS 5.0 (which would presumably have the ARM processor). If they announce it before Verizon releases the 7135, Kyocera is going to lose a lot of sales......
I just got my May 6, 2003 issue of PC Magazine and found our beloved 7135 named Editor's Choice under the category of PDA's with phones. The competition includes the Handspring Treo 270, 300; Palm Tungsten W; Samsung SPH-i330; T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition; T-Mobile Sidekick; and the Toshiba 2032.
It seems that they couldn't praise it enough. I hope this doesn’t cause Verizon to rethink their price structure.
I was elated to see this as well! PC Magazine gave the 7135 five out of a possible five stars, and the best bang for the buck for similarly-priced items, including the T-Mobile PocketPC, Treo, Tungsten W, and one other (I think?). PC Magazine giving a Palm product five stars is very rare... the Clie's tend to do rather well with PC Magazine, but I've never seen a Palm product get more than four stars. I remember my old m505 and m515s getting three.
There is an article in the May 5, 2002 Cleveland Plain Dealer (Business Section) that mentions the 7135. It is an article about how many consumers really want a converged device.
