I read in a post a week or so ago that Verizon has finished testing the unit. What is the delay at this point? According to Kyocera Wireless 800 #'s rep...we will be rolling the phone out in October and all throughout the 4th quarter...
BIG HELP! <iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
I went into my Verizon dealer today to see if I could coax a release date out of them and the rep said 2 months.
I asked if I could pre-order to ensure I get one of the first units and he looked at me like I was from another planet.
With all the pre-selling of movies etc. I would think Verizon would welcome the idea of pre-orders. If nothing else it would help them in forecasting how many thousands to have on hand the first day
Do you think it's going to be as big as the Phantom Menace release?:p
I guess my post was a contradiction in terms. He actually is pretty reliable, I think something in testing is slowing it up. He was right on the mark for the 6035 launch and other releases that Verizon has had locally.
I wish he was wrong, stinks to think that another two month wait is ahead!
Wow....If it's another 2 months, we might just get the opportunity to decide between the 7135 and the Samsung I-500 (a 7135 look alike without the card slot or mp3 capability -- but a good bit thinner) by evaluating the both of them side by side! :conf
Kyocera better hurry it up, folks on this board are getting pretty desperate! :eyecrazy

and 66mhz Dragonball processor. If Sprint/Verizon testing is showing something which needs to be fixed by a software update, I'd just assume it's taken care of before I buy it. Not good to be $500 poorer and find that the device is crippled in some respect. Plus, Kyo can't make any money till the phone passes testing so it's more incentive for the managers to light a fire under the programmers @$$e$ to get fixed whatever needs fixing. I'm thinking the smaller size and 66mhz processor of one and cancels out the SD of the other. Dealmaker for me will be the screen. I'll pay extra even if the one with the better screen costs more. Don't want m505 style washed out color. I want bright BRIGHT color. So bright I could use it as a searchlight (just joking). I do repetitive data entry tasks, so being able to switch from screen to screen quickly would be nice, however I doubt that even a 66mhz processor would make much difference in my database sorting. Two seconds vs three seconds... whatever, it's still a wait. Then again SD would mean never having to not install stuff because I'm worried about space. I could save my previous months databases instead of just gathering the totals and deleting the records and starting over each month. And, if the phone is in a holster what difference would 1.xx ounces make. I have a feeling that kyo will have the better screen. We'll see.
my guess is that VZW likes to build up stock for sales (they like to prevent ebay type stuff that plagues shortages). So, 1 week before release, stores will usally have them in stock waiting for a uniform nationwide release. It's good because it prevents artificially high prices. It also means that you don't have stand in line for the phone usually

If the screen is the most important thing to you, you don't want the Samsung. It only displays 4096 colors, the Kyocera 7135 displays 65,000.

The 7135 passed FCC at least a month before the i500. If that has anything to do with the chronology of realeases, I'm not sure I can let the 7135 sit in the store for a month without buying it.
Originally posted by David Westman The 6035 is now GONE from the VerizonWireless web page for my area code. Also, the thera is now listed at $599, $200 lower than before.
If the Thera is reduced $200 to $599 doesn't that make you think that the 'coveted' will be at least $699 since it is 'the newest and smartest'. I hope not but it is all speculation anyway. I would love to get one as soon as it comes out but I am also too tight with my $ to spend alot on another phone. Someday...Someday.

Not necessarily, because the Thera is a bloated PocketPC phone.
PPC is always far more expensive while not necessarily better.
I spoke to a reliable Verizon resource (at least in the past) Wednesday, the 7135 is still in testing. They said I should call back in about a month. Of course I insisted that I had to have one of these phones ASAP. We'll see...
