ok- i'm not sure if the moderator wants to link this to the digital camera one or not...
I have begun my search now for compatible devices now for my 7135. I came upon this little toy - panasonic's sv-av10, which is kind of a hybrid in itself. It makes use primarily of its SD expansion slot and is seriously tiny; it records video, still pix, and has mp3-playback (as well as a voice memo feature).
It's been out a while, but probably as most of us here, I have not been all that interested in SD devices as much as when I discovered the 7135's expandability. The actual quality is pretty shoddy (from what I read from numerous reviews) for both the video and still, but seems to be an awesome companion, albeit a little pricey, for the 7135.
I'm looking around for camcorders now, and there are only a handful of relatively decently priced ones that incorporate SD expansion and above 1Mpixel still image capture.
Looks pretty cool. I'll be more interested in getting a camera that goes directly into the SD slot of the 7135... or if I want to have better quality pics I might get a small SD compatible digital camera.

Might I add the following (I posted this to the digital camera post as well). Panasonic has released in Japan, but not yet the US, a compact flash (CF) card adapter that takes SD cards. The difference between this one and the ones already for sale in the US, is that once the SD card is inserted, the total form factor is that of a Type 1 CF card. Yes, this means that you can leverage SD memory in a CF device. The range of cameras and other devices that you can use increases ten fold.

That is one of my gripes, as well...but i didn't want to compare it to a good quality SD digital camera (...and so far I haven't seen any other SD compatible ones I want besides the DimageX.) Comparing it to the quality of a SD slot camera, the quality is about the same, except now motion-video is incorporated. Just thought that was pretty durn handy (and the size of the thing is just too enticing). Yeah, I'll probably end up getting a better quality digital still down the road even if i get this, but ....it's a toy...and we all love them digital toys!

I actually have yet to even come across one that is sold here yet. I'd be interested to see what price range these other ones would go for, sold here
On the discussion group at www.dcresource.com, George had one of his engineers pick one up in Japan (so he's tried it and confirmed it works in a CF camera), and said it was something like $40-50 US. While that seems somewhat pricey, I'll definitely get one, as I see a LOT of cameras moving to SD. I'd prefer to always buy the memory that I can leverage the most. Sure, I've got 600 MB of CF laying around, but anything new I'd like to work with my CF camera as well. And I'd like to be able to take pictures and transfer to my palm phone. (Although, note that I have also seen an SD to CF adapter- sticks WAY out of the SD device, but at least you can TRANSFER CF data to an SD device.
Thx! I'll definitely be on the lookout
Apparently, I'm not in the digital mobile memory-know, (probably because I have yet to purchase a digital camera- love the slr analogs too much)- as all i've needed to carry around is my portable usb memory card.
Is there a SD/MMC memory limit to these adapters? I've come across a couple suppliers who have stated a 128M ceiling.
