Losing its programming occasionally

Assuming anybody else is still here in this forum, I have a new problem. Recently, about once every week or so, my 7135 forgets its programming, i.e., it forgets it relationship with the Verizon network. Any attempt to call to the phone goes to voice-mail (because the Verizon network doesn't recognize the phone as being on); any attempt to call from the phone routes to a Verizon message offering to pay by credit-card.

If I reprogram the phone via *228-1, then every works fine again... for about a week until it forgets again.

Any ideas?

Hi Paul, some of us are still out there...
strange issue--several questions to double-check
how is the signal level?
is it battery related at all?
does it loose any other data?
does it happen in all areas?
could be a verizon tower issue--that happened once to me in a suburban area a few years ago, I called in and they did something at that particular tower which made it work fine ever since...the Data Tech Support team should be able to help you...but they may be resistant in helping out on this phone...or the tower could be set to turn away those phones...

one more thing-- *22899 automatically programs it (no other buttons to press)
good luck-- let us know how it turns out!

My 7135 has never forgotten its programming, but it it did stop calling out a couple of days ago. I don't know whether incoming calls were blocked (I did not try this before calling Verizon) but after some tower fiddling and dialing *228 everything started working again. I am a former Alltel customer who was switched to Verizon after they bought Alltel. Did this have anything to do with the problem? I don't know and the tech person did not either (I was dealing with a first level tech who really knew only what she had been told to try).

Hi guys.. I still have this forum's thread on my radar! Another thing to keep in mind is that good' ole failure mode of this phone. That is the main phone chip solder joints get loose. Toward the end, I seem to remember my phone starting to loose its phone programming but the PDA side would work fine. Check and make sure all your screws are tight!

FYI: After my initial post, it stopped forgetting its programming. Go figure.
