Shout out for the old "Kyo Krazies" in Washington, DC

It has been about three years since I was last on this site but I wanted to give a shout out to the old "Kyo Krazies" users' group that used to meet every few months in Maryland a few years ago. We used to gather around and talk about the then greatest smartphone on Earth, the Kyocera 7135.

Since them, I've moved from a Kyocera 7135 to a Palm Treo 600 to a Palm Treo 650 to a Palm 700p. I was about to move to a Palm Treo 800w (and yes, finally move off of the Palm OS) but I've decided to wait a bit and move on to a Sprint HTC Touch Pro. Oh yeah, and I also moved from Maryland to New York.

The times have changed but in its day, the Kyocera 7135 was the best!

I'm just wondering if any of the old group is still on this board. If you are, post a response.

I am still around, but not posting much.

My Kyo was my last Palm device. I moved on some time ago to the Samsung i700. From there to the XV6700. I took a short spin with the Moto Q9M (got it for free from a Verizon user group I belong to), then went with the Samsung i760 for a while. I then got a free XV6900 (HTC Vouge/Sprint Touch) and this has gotten me back into hacking. I am running a custom ROM to get EVDO Rev A and GPS, neither currently offered on this device from Verizon directly.

Marctonix (sp) is still posting here quite a bit from Atlanta. I haven't seen much from RobertK lately, and I hear from David once in a while (went to a party last year).

Nice to hear from you. Where in NY are you? How are you liking the change?

I am in Long Island, working for Estee Lauder as an IT Security Consultant. I actually miss Maryland.

As for my phone, I stayed with Palm a little bit longer than most. The Treo 700P was my last; I am about to move over to the AT&T Fuze (Touch Pro). I really hate to give up on Palm but Windows Mobile really has moved ahead. You don't know how much it pains me to say that.

I do miss the old "Kyo Krazies." We were really ahead of our time. If you run into any of the old gang -- either here or in the "real world" -- tell them I said, "Hello."
