7135 second life

My trusty six year old 7135 finally went SCRP on Monday - I should have seen it coming - it was getting glitchy and kept making a high-low beeping sound every time i opened the flip or touched the keys. Went on e bay - found a good used unit, checked the esn with verizon, (it was OK), it arrived on Thrusday - activated same day. Absolutely no problems with Verizon, as they had already cleared the esn (it is E911 compatable). I am amazed at how easy this was - after reading all the horror stories on this site about Verizon's trying to get this phone off their network. So I guess as long as you pre-clear the esn, folks shouldn't fear picking up a used one and keep this thing going a bit longer.

Thanks for the information. I am about to give my old Kyocera 7135 to a friend -- he wants it -- but I was not sure that it could be activated.

On another note, this is the first time in about three years that I have been on this forum. It's nice to be back and know it's still here. Wow!

Is Verizon activating these phones again? AFAIK the only way to activate a 7135 was to get service from the pre-paid service that re-sell Verizon (I've jus spaced their name and I'm even set up as a dealer!).

I know a lot of people just hated this phone but it's still my all time favorite. I'm using the Sprint HTC Mogul now and I like it a lot but still miss using my 7135 on a daily basis.

BTW - I have a box full of dead 7135's that are good for parts if anyone needs em. I don't there's a good screen out of the lot but there are other good parts.
