How to Restore the 1x display when migrating from Alltel to VZ
|
|
I was using an Alltel 7135 on VZ, but it died and I got a VZ replacement. The VZ had the nice 1x display, which could come in handy when traveling. But when I did a restore from the Alltel 7135's data, the 1x was replaced with a "D". It took me a while, but I figured out how to get the 1x back.
You'll need an app that can remove preference entries; I used PrefEd.
First off, be careful when deleting entries, unless you want to reconfigure your preferences...
To do the fix:
1. You will lose your Phone Prefs, so copy them down if you want.
2. In PrefEd, in the bottom right corner, you'll see an S and a U. Make sure "S" is selected (Saved Prefs vs Unsaved).
3. Scroll down until you see "GUIPhonePrefs" in the right-hand column. Highlight it and delete it. I'm not sure if there's more than one entry with that name, but delete all of them to be sure.
4. Do a soft reset.
5. When it starts up the phone should now read 1x (if you're in a 1x area).
6. Go back an reconfigure your Phone Prefs.
