Unable to open voice database...
I love my 6035 so much that I bought a spare one in case the first one ever died. So after 5 years, with the buttons getting worn I activated the new one. However, I can't use the Voice Dial software. When I click on the icon I get the message: "Cannot open the Voice Dial database". Then I get a 'fatal exception' and a prompt to restet the phone. I searched this site and found an old item from 2001, here it is:
I just successfully updated my firmware on my Verizon phone, now running:
SX 1.0.11
KZ 1.0.10
PRL 50014
I thought I had nothing in the vioce database, but I guess I did, as I now get the dreaded "Unable to open voice database" and a lockup when I try to go to Voice Dial.
I followed the directions on the maryg website (Thanks, Mary!) and all worked fine. I see a link on Mary's page to a Kyocera FTP site that appears to be the fix I need, but the link is now broken.
My question: is there anyone that knows how to fix this? How do I update the firmware. Sprint doesn't have knowledge of (or interest in) this phone. Kyocera only advises full reset, which does not help.
I wish there was a Palm phone with Graffiti on the way. I am not fond of Querty... to many small keys.
Thanks,
Bob
