Hi all,
Well, I solved my own problem thru another venue: Kyocera online support (I was surprised that they responded!). I copied their email below. In short, the driver installation executable for this model of USB cable is worthless. You need to install the drivers one by one by manually right-clicking the .inf files and clicking "Install".
Unfortunately, I answered my other question as well: no, the USB cable does not speed up the HotSync. Oh well, I've lived with it for 4 years, I can live with it for another 4!!! I've seen people in this forum talk about having to upgrade to a newer PDA phone, but I'm still happy with my 6035. I use it for the exact same thing every day, so why upgrade? I guess you could say it was perfectly designed for my needs. And it's great for personal protection!

Dear Jason Fritz,
Thank you for contacting Kyocera-Wireless Technical Support. This email message is in response to your inquiry regarding installing the TXDTA0C01 drivers for your QCP6035 phone.
To install the drivers you will need to go to the directory where you un-compressed the files to. In that folder there will be a directory called "Drivers". In the Drivers folder there will 5 driver files called: kwc_bus.inf, kwc_vxd.inf, kwc_w2k.inf, kwc_wdm.inf and mdmkwcy.inf. You will need to Right-Click and select Install for each of these files to install the drivers.
