HotSync Error: Insufficient disk space. (800A)
Hi,
Anyone seen this error:
"HotSync Error: Insufficient disk space. (800A)"
I've had my phone about a year and this is the first time this has shown up as an error. The disk that the software lives on has about 5G free. I've emptied trash and temp, I've done a soft boot on the kyocera and a reboot on the computer but still get this.
Anybody have suggestions??
Thanks!
Milt

How much free space do you have on your phone?
Only thing I can suggest is uninstall and reinstall the palm desktop software. I've never heard this happenin before.

This is gonna sound dumb, but try this: Unplug your Hotsync Cradle from the machine before you shut down, then reconnect it after you booted up again. If the OS thinks it's found new hardware, it may correct the problem.
Hey, it's MicroSoft.

Is it at all possible that your hard disk is full?

Do you mean the "phone info" option thats available with the flip closed? That says I have 77% memory free...

I think I'll try the unplug/replug routine - report in a little bit.
Thanks for all the quick responses!

Sorry about not reading the complete original post. I found the following in a newsgroup:
This was a registry problem. You can stop Hotsync and then run hotsync.exe -r to rebuild the registry.

Well, I unplug the cradle, powered down and then back up, then reattached the cradle's serial cable. The result was the same...
For what its worth a hotsync generates this error very quickly after I start the operation.
I suppose I could uninstall/reinstall the software...

I had this problem when I installed the kyocera desktop on top of my handspring desktop. I ended up uninstalling both, deleting everything I could find in the registry related to either, then reinstalling the kyocera software from scratch.
I'm no perplexed as towards how to get my handspring working again...

Problem solved!
Well, I got off my lazy rear and did an uninstall/reinstall of the Palm software and that fixed the problem...
Thanks to everyone for their quick responses and willingness to suggest solutions!

emptying trash does it
I use a Palm Vx and Windows 2000. I was getting this same error message. I synch my palm frequently, and the only change I'm liable to have made was on the Palm Desktop, not on the Palm itself.
I emptied the Win2000 "recycle bin", and then it worked all right. I didn't have to hunt down multiple temp directories and clear them as well.
