I have yet to purchase an hands free car kit since I think I want to wait and see what other options are out there, but I have already purchased a mount for my phone. The May I suggest the magnetic mounts work great -- I have had no problems with my phone - the best part is that the magnet is on the mount, while only a slim piece of steel is stuck on the phone, which allows it to fit in any kind of pouch (like the Kyocera factory pouch) if I wish to protect it while traveling.

To clarify I went to a professional car audio installation store and had them install a bracket that specifically fits my car - it cost me $30 but is well worth it as it is black unobtrusive, and I stuck the magnet right on it -- once I decide on a car kit I can adapt accordingly.

2) A magnetic Mount. This seems like a bad idea for a digital device like a cell phone. Might the Magnetic Screw up the phone?

4) Some sort of stand mounts (flex and non-flex). I am not sure how there are supposed to mount to the car either. Does anyone know?

2) Not usually. there aren't any magnetic devices in a cell phone or Palm. No disks.

4) By screwing them into the floor with sheet metal screws.

BTW, as far as running a mic cable from the sun visor, take a good look at the plastic trim running from the headliner (inside roof) down the left side of the windshield. It snaps off in most cars. So does the one lower down, if your car has 2 pieces of trim there. Just snap the trim off (carefully), lay the mic cable in the clips or channel, and replace the trim.

(Now you know how the professionals do it. )
