i saw your post about the fossil, and ordered it. i got free shipping on next day service, and it should be here on monday. i'll let you know what i think when i get it
john
I just bought a fossil case similar to the one in the first link, and though the velcro cover strap doesn't completely match up on the other side, I'm very happy with it, as it still keeps a relatively small profile. Also, it was only $8, which is less than half of what I've seen for cases that don't even fit as well, such as the mini camera cases that were recommended on another thread.

'Twould seem Galyan's (the sporting goods store) has a fabric case for $8 that's almost identical to the fabric Fossil case I've got (see my previous posting), as well as a neoprene case for $6. Needless to say, I picked up one of each, whch should last me quite a while. I love the low-profile of the Fossil fabric case and the Galyan's case is just as low-key. I've attached the neoprene case to my bike backpack, and I may get another neoprene one to keep as a spare. At $6 and $8, it makes sense to get a couple...
Ahhh! It seems that with this case I can no longer feel the vibrate unless I try really hard. Is there a way to up the amplitude? Or does anyone know where I can get one of these uber phone pens a bit cheaper? 10 isn't so bad, but w/out a credit card(and perhaps more importantly parental approval ), I can't get one. Can anyone think of a way I could make one? It would be very cool to have a homemade one, even though it wouldn't be as pretty....

I have the holster & its clip from Verizon.
It works quite nicely, though I wonder at the longevity due to the "button" or "stud" on the back of the holster being plastic...
Anyway -
I have had the belt clip twist. The large metal spring can snap right out of the flanges if adequate torque is applied to you holster. When this happens, the little spring loaded wedge that snaps into the holster's button will drop out and in all likelihood disappear.
These are the exact same belt clips that Radio Shack sells.
To prevent this, I recommend using a little bead of super glue down the edges of the two plastic flanges where they press against the steel spring.
I've not had any problem since, though I still worry about the plastic button...
If I could find a source of a compatibly sized and shaped metal button I'd replace the plastic and be all set.
[quote:87591d3c49="Ursus"]A friend of mine has a 6035 and bought a very nice low-profile belt clip for it from Best Buy. It has a plastic plate with a [b:87591d3c49]metal[/b:87591d3c49] button on it stuck to the phone and a very nice belt clip...
...Best Buy doesn't have them now and no one there seems to know what I'm talking about. Grrr.[/quote:87591d3c49]
Ursus -
Be sure to let us know if you find this out - it sounds like what I had been looking for - I wound up getting kyocera's leather holster, just for the belt clip. But of course Kyocera's leather [i:87591d3c49]never[/i:87591d3c49] seems to match my shoes or my handbag...

Hey Jr, and All. I have one of these and it works good. I will say I wish there was something I could clip over the screen when i'm working around certain area's.
I've had my 6035 for about 3 weeks now and the worst happend to me last week. I got my first scratch on the screen
It's not really bad, but, you think it's a piece of dust, but it's not. I'll let you all know how the fix turns out.
Anyway's... I'm in the process of modifying my cradle so I don't have to remove the clip-on case.
Cases are an interesting challenge... I have about 8 now...found in my travels as I fly around the US... know which one i prefer? None! Just as with my Jornada and my palms over the years I have always fell back to using these devices naked.
I find that any and all simply add bulk, slow down access to them and impede synch'ing.
I have never damaged or lost any... ever!
The key to this is adding some creativity. I use those swivel belt clips but not with a matching thingy on the phone or palm but instead I attach a handstrap and on the end of IT i attach the thingy that snaps into the belt plastic swivel. Why? Because then the Kyocera or palm can be dropped into my left pants pocket out of sight but within easy reach. The attachment prevents loss and also is just long enough to prevent the unit from reaching the pocket bottom. The weight is handled by the strap not the pocket so you dont feel like you have a rock in the pocket. Looks neat and no unsightly Batman utility belt look. Try it. Save a case purchase or 3.
I am curious. Does this particular holder swivel upward to view the caller ID while still attached to your belt or do you have to remove it from your belt to view callers. I saw a similar type on EB and am looking for this type if anyone can tell me if either the above or below links carry this particular type. I see that they swivel side to side but curious about up and down as well.
At the risk of sounding redundant, or at least repetitive, I'll say that ANY case is ONLY as good as the belt clip. If the clip breaks, and your PDA falls to the ground or, your iPaq gets left in a cab accidentially because it prematurely popped-out of the belt clip, you'll know what we mean quickly. Most belt clip failures occur after a previous incident that left a small undetected crack in a bad spot.
The root and reason behind all cheapo belt clips is a cellular phone company. Cell phone companies only want you to pay a monthly bill. Losing your phone is your problem, from their perspective.
When cellular carriers or manufacturers call us for belt clips they always ask for the cheapest possible clip - and over the years, we've lost business because someone else made a cheaper clip than we did. (the old adage applies here: There's an ass for every seat) There are good belt clips.
Anyway, there are several very good case manufacturers who care enough to include a much better belt clip with their cases. We really like cases from VAJA Cases and Sena Cases - the fit and finish are indeed sweet and the protection is nice.
