When you downgraded from 1.1.11 to 1.0.11 you lost the WAP browser in ROM. MO-SMS was added at 1.0.11.
The menus and applications automatically change based on an "enable MO-SMS" checkbox in the programming menus. This is because carriers hate phones that have unusable features, and not everyone supports MO-SMS.

I just created a document for newbies and not so newbies (much of the information comes from this thread). It's too long for an email but I've submitted it to Bibi's site. I called it "Grail" and until Bibi moves it you can download it at:
The topics include:
- Sprint to Verizon
- MOSMS and always on email
- Fast and Easy Access to Voicemail
- Afterburner, PQAs, and Beaming
- Verizon Quick Connection
- Hotmail
- Sweet Ringer for the 6035
- Help someone return your 6035
- Hacks
Let me know what you think.
Josh
PS - The link I reference for KWPST is dead - please keep monitoring this forum for updates.
PPS - The "bell.pdb" referenced in the doc is now at: http://24.201.26.57:8088/Palm/6035_files/ring/
The lower case "bell.pdb" works better for me then the uppercase one.
Went and had my 6035 flashed today to get the MO-SMS function (it was upgraded to SX1.1.12, and KZ1.1.21), and I don't have the mobile originated SMS, which is the WHOLE reason I had it done in the first place. Can someone clue me in on how to enable that function? I saw in an earlier post that it can be enabled in the programming mode, but I must admit that I have no codes handy, that I know of. I've been viewing all the posts in this thread about codes and stuff and I have to say that you folks are braver than I. I do know about 1-1-1-1-1 and option, but that's as far as I've dived in.
So - if it's a simple thing, I'd prefer to get it going myself rather than risking the store again - (had to tell the 'tech' where the backlight button was, while she was on the phone waiting to ask the so-called "SuperTech" the same question. Scary.).
Since your phone module name is KZ, I presume you are on Verizon. They do not have SPC or FSC enabled so there are no codes to try to break.
Dial 111111 (6 ones) than press the jog dial Options. Select Programming Mode. Tap to enter 000000 (six zeros). Click the More button. In the upper right, there is a drop-down menu. Click it and go to the SMS page. Look for a box labeled Enable MO-SMS and check it.
You can double-check they installed the right versions from the version screen where the programming screen is - but I assume you've already done that.

I had never programmed a cell phone before, and had just bought a 6035 from eBay. Your information got me through the process in a couple of hours (lots of triple checking and stuff), and now I am up an running! Thanks again.
Thank you so much all of those who have posted. This website helped me decide on getting the 6035. But I'm now running into problems switching from sprint to verizon.
Using sprintpcs.com, I first enter all necessary info, ESN number, but then instead of receiving the first code with an option saying it doesn't work, I get a page telling me I need to agree to a $100+ deposit before I can continue! Has sprint changed their website since previous posts were posted, or am I doing something wrong?
If things have changed then maybe I will be forced to call sprint or find a friend who already has sprint...
This is not cool. I had a friend call sprint up and say he was replacing his phone with the Kyocera. The woman gave him the programming code, and it "did not work." However, she asked specifically for what the screen said, and told him to try it again. Again it did not work and he asked her if there was any other code that might work. However, she replied that only one code appeared on her screen and that we would have to take it to a sprint tech!
This coupled with the website activation being down right now, I'm not sure what to think! Has sprint wisened up to whats happening? If anyone knows what's going on or could help that would be awesome! Please reply! Thank you.
When I activated my 6035 (online) I accidentaly installed the wrong phone number, I called sprint and told them this, they then ran me through the process (where you get the 2nd (MLS)code) and install the correct phone number.
Or call them and tell them you want a different phone number (for whatever reason)
Or e-mail <pedros@ureach.com>. I found pedros on e-bay and bought the 2nd code for 20 bucks. As I did this at the same time as my above mistake I ended up with Sprints (2nd) MLS code and Pedros....both were the same. So Pedro apperently knows what he's doing. Good luck...
I followed Burvil's instruction and today succesfully switched to Verizon (Many thanks Burvil)
I basicly bought the 2nd code from eBay for 20 bucks (pedros@ureach.com) did the 111111's and 000000's, went to a Verizon booth and with some convincing that it'll work they installed the service for me. The hardest part is confincing Verizon that it WILL work, they ALL really seem to think that it won't. You do have to tell them that you won't hold them responsable for any problems.
I have not switched the firmware yet (they didn't have any techs there today) but I'll do that this coming week.
To sum this up...just buy a code from Pedro or any other eBay seller...follow Burvills instruction...go to Verizon and tell them to hook it up.
Looking back, the worst part was disconnecting from Spint...it took almost an hour on the phone to get this done. Sprint has the worst customer service of any product I have ever seen...Verizon is great compared to Sprint and the employees very helpfull and patient...Good Luck
All the folks at Verizon said that because my phone was sprint branded, I could not use their service because sprint was strictly PCS. 20 minutes of social manipulation got the sales person to sign me up anyway, and sure enough it worked. Sweeet...
What about the firmware though? My phone works fine through Verizon but I think I'm still using Sprint towers. For instance *228 doesn't work , I just get a Sprint message that this feature is no good. Have you done anything with the firmware then and do you know where to get the files? Verizon stores don't seem to have the updates (so they say)
Even the Rockville store (i've seen talked about on other posts) say they can't do this.
Does anyone have any suggestions or help?
It works but what happened to the programming code?
I actually posted this in a slightly different version elsewhere. I too bought the Sprint phone. I followed Burval's great suggestions. I couldn't get the web site to give me the codes so I called customer service. They gave me two numbers. I tried the second, it didn't work. I then tried the first number and it worked. I unchecked the Sprint subsidy lock code box and changed the fsc etc to 000000 and saved the settings and exited. I decided to go back in and look at the programming stuff and I then found the lock code didn't work anymore! When you enter it it now if you use the number that got me in, it says "incorrect service code" and if you use the other number it says "incorrect phone mode". Feeling sheepish that I hadn't had the Verizon store do the whole thing, I went to their White Plains, NY store and said, switch me over, can you help with this. They said, you can't do this period, I said no, call cust serv which they did. After a few minutes they had it running ONLY the following problems are apparent, 1) it goes to Sprint when you enter 611 etc. 2) it still is on KT version 3) I still can't get into programming mode. Can they change the software now without the code? How do I get back in?
I'm going to attempt the switch. But this is my first cell phone so I don't have a prior phone number to change to. Can I keep the phone # the same, or is that not a good idea considering the nature of this activity.
Also, can I get some feedback from those users who have successfully performed the switch recently, just so I have some confidence that all of these doors have not already been slammed shut. I'm just looking for a "It works" and to what degree (were all phone functions working?).
Thanks alot.
